Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease and the most prevalent type of senile dementia affecting more than 6 million Americans in 2023. Most of these AD cases are sporadic or late-onset AD with unclear etiology. Recent clinical trials on antibody drug clearing Ab plagues in brain show modest benefits of slowing down cognitive decline.

Delving into knowing the blackfly (Diptera: Simuliidae) species composition of Spain and their ecological requirements is crucial, due to their instrumental role in natural food webs as intermediaries in the flow of energy in aquatic ecosystems, and because of the haematophagic behaviour displayed by females of several species. The present study has analysed the abundance and distribution of the larvae and pupae of blackfly species in 105 sampling stations located in lotic water bodies of the provinces of Ávila, Salamanca, and Zamora of the Tormes River basin. The study has allowed to identify 24 species: 17 from Ávila, 13 from Salamanca, and seven from Zamora, classified in three genera (Metacnephia, Prosimulium, and Simulium), and five subgenera (Boophthora, Eusimulium, Nevermannia, Simulium, Wilhelmia).

While LMA and LMP are triple deletion mutants of CO92 strain, Ad5-YFV incorporates three protective plague immunogens. An impressive 80-100% protection was observed in all vaccinated animals against highly lethal intranasal challenge doses of parental CO92.

Duck plague (DP), which is caused by duck plague virus (DPV), is an infectious disease that severely harms the waterfowl breeding industry. The UL14 protein (pUL14) is a tegument protein encoded by the UL14 gene, which is located in the unique long (UL) region of the DPV genome. DPV pUL14 plays a crucial role in viral replication, likely by interacting with host and viral proteins that have yet to be identified.
