Anionic thermo- and pH-responsive copolymers were synthesized by photoiniferter reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization (PI-RAFT). The thermo-responsive properties were provided by oligo(ethylene glycol)-based macromonomer units containing hydrophilic and hydrophobic moieties. The pH-responsive properties were enabled by the addition of 5-20 mol% of strong (2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic) and weak (methacrylic) acids.

Targeting the peculiarities of tumor tissue microenvironment different from normal tissue, such as lower pH and overexpression of hydrogen peroxide is the key to effective treatment. In this study, acid-responsive Z-scheme heterojunctions polyglycolated MoS/CoFeO (MoS = molybdenum disulfide, CoFeO = cobalt ferrite) was synthesized using a two-step hydrothermal method, designated as MSCO-PEG, guided by dual modes of photoacoustic imagine (PAI) and nuclear magnetic imaging (MRI). MSCO-PEG (PEG = polyethylene glycol) responded to the acidic environment of tumor tissues and overexpression of hydrogen peroxide to turn on multimodal synergistic treatment of tumor cells under near-infrared-II (NIR-II) illumination.

High-energy-density lithium-sulfur (Li-S) cells are identified as one of the most prospective next-generation energy storage appliances owing to their numerous advantages. Nonetheless, their widespread applications are restricted by the unwanted shuttling effect and tardy conversion reaction kinetics of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs). To address these puzzles, we present an innovative strategy for the one-pot synthesis of LaF@SiO yolk-shell heterostructure nanofibers (YSHNFs) through a straightforward uniaxial electrospinning process coupled with fluorination, avoiding the complexities of traditional methods.

Patients And Methods: Materials and Methods: The sarcopenic index and hand grip strength, which were simultaneously in the range below the 25th percentile of the reference values of these indicators for the corresponding age and gender, were considered the criteria for sarcopenia. A bioelectrical impedance analyzer, "TANITA MC- 780 MA" (Japan), was used to obtain the SI indicator.

We present a theoretical investigation of guided second harmonic generation at THz frequencies in SiGe waveguides embedding n-type Ge/SiGe asymmetric coupled quantum wells to engineer a giant second order nonlinear susceptibility. A characteristic of the chosen material system is the existence of large off-diagonal elements in the tensor, coupling optical modes with different polarization. To account for this effect, we generalize the coupled-mode theory, proposing a theoretical model suitable for concurrently resolving every second harmonic generation interaction among guide-sustained modes, regardless of which tensor elements it originates from.
