Unlabelled: Atherosclerosis is the main cause of mortality and disability in the adult population. One of the reasons for the high mortality from atherosclerosis is the lack of effective measures to prevent cardiovascular complications that ensure timely detection and correction of risk factors for the development of atherosclerosis, primarily lipid metabolism disorders with high values of proatherogenic lipids. In the restorative correction of dyslipidemia, the most promising is the use of health programs based on therapeutic physical factors, the combined use of natural (mineral waters, kumiss, climate) with physical training, training in health schools, with their implementation in sanatorium-resort conditions.

Objective: Scientific substantiation of the advisability of including Nordic walking and simultaneous physiotherapy based on the Tilain-EM device in the complex treatment of chronic prostatitis.

Material And Methods: 124 men at the age of 24-51 years old with chronic prostatitis (CP) were divided into three groups by simple randomization: the main group (=42) was prescribed a complex treatment (basic medications, Nordic walking and simultaneous physiotherapy); the group of comparison (=42) had basic therapy and Nordic walking; the control group (=40) received only basic therapy. The dynamics of clinical manifestations of CP (according to specialized NIH-CPSI and IPSS scales) and laboratory parameters (prostatic secretion) was assessed.

Validation of Muscle Ultrasound Speckle Tracking and the Effect of Nordic Hamstring Exercise on Biceps Femoris Displacement.

Ultrasound Med Biol

January 2025

School and Graduate Institute of Physical Therapy, College of Medicine, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan ROC; Center of Physical Therapy, National Taiwan University Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan ROC. Electronic address:

Objective: This study aimed to validate the ultrasound speckle tracking (UST) algorithm, determine the optimal probe location by comparing normalized cross-correlation (NCC) values of muscle displacement at two locations (proximal vs. middle) of the biceps femoris long head (BFlh) using the UST, and investigate the effects of Nordic hamstring curl exercise (NHE) training on BFlh displacement.

Methods: UST efficacy was verified with ex vivo uniaxial testing of porcine leg muscles.

Acute effects of Nordic hamstring exercise on ultrasound shear wave elastography.

J Ultrason

December 2024

Faculty of Exercise Physiology, Department of Kinesiology and Sports Sciences, University of Miami, Coral Gables, United States.

Aim: The Nordic hamstring curl appears effective in reducing the incidence of injury in physically active young adults, likely through its capacity as an eccentric exercise to increase muscle stiffness. Although eccentric exercises have been shown to increase muscle stiffness, medium- and long-term Nordic hamstring curl training programs have not demonstrated an effect on muscle stiffness. This study examined the acute effects of a single session of Nordic hamstring curls on the stiffness of the biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus muscles using ultrasound shear wave elastography, an accepted method for measuring passive muscle stiffness.
