Background: An increasing number of wearable medical devices are being used for personal monitoring and professional health care purposes. These mobile health devices collect a variety of biometric and health data but do not routinely connect to a patient's electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) for access by a patient's health care team.
Methods: The International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) Committee on Mobile Health and Bioengineering in Laboratory Medicine (C-MHBLM) developed consensus recommendations for consideration when interfacing mobile health devices to an EHR/EMR.

Electronic exchange of health care data demands code/terminology systems. In the Scandinavian countries, the IFCC-IUPAC's Nomenclature for Properties and Units (NPU) terminology is used for results in biochemistry, pharmacology, and immunology. Implementation, use and administration of NPU has differed between the countries despite similar health care and lab sectors.

Objectives: This study aimed to establish reference intervals (RIs) for Russian adults for hematological parameters including related iron markers and vitamins. Sources of variation of reference values (RVs) and needs for secondary exclusion were explored for proper derivations of RIs.
Methods: Following the harmonized protocol of the IFCC Committee on Reference Intervals and Decision Limits (C-RIDL), 506 healthy Russians (age 18-80; 46% male) were recruited.

This study sought to assess the current understanding and usage of metabolomics in laboratory medicine globally and evaluate the perception of its promise and future implementation.
Methods: A survey was conducted by the IFCC metabolomics working group that queried 400 professionals from 79 countries.
