Alzheimers Dement
December 2024
Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing, Department of Psychological Medicine, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience, King's College London, London, UK.
Introduction: Neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPSs) are common in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) but their neurobiological mechanisms are poorly understood.
Methods: NPSs and cognition were assessed annually in participants (DLB n = 222; Alzheimer's disease [AD] n = 125) from the European DLB (E-DLB) Consortium, and plasma phosphorylated tau-181 (p-tau181) and p-tau231 concentrations were measured at baseline.
Results: Hallucinations, delusions, and depression were more common in DLB than in AD and, in a subgroup with longitudinal follow-up, persistent hallucinations and NPSs were associated with lower p-tau181 and p-tau231 in DLB.

Department of Neurology, Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, China; Department of Neurology, The Eighth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Sun Yat-Sen University, Shenzhen, China. Electronic address:
Introduction: Monoamine oxidase-B (MAO-B) inhibitors, as an add-on therapy to levodopa, are widely used in Parkinson's disease (PD). The effects of MAO-B inhibitors on quality of life remain unclear, and the aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy and safety of MAO-B inhibitors on quality of life in different domains.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Embass, and Cochrane Library databases for randomized controlled trials of PD patients who were administered MAO-B inhibitors.
Support Care Cancer
December 2024
Yunnan Plateau Thermal Health Industry Innovation Research Institute, Tengchong, 679100, China.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a 6-month Guolin Qigong on quality of life and serum cortisol among patients with cancer.
Methods: This study was a two-arm and non-randomized controlled trial. Forty-nine patients with cancer who were over 18 years of age and diagnosed with cancer were enrolled in this study and assigned to either the Guolin Qigong intervention group (IG, n = 26) or the usual care group (UC, n = 23) for 6 months.
Immun Ageing
December 2024
Université Paris Cité, INSERM, PARCC, Paris, France.
Background: Immune ageing complicates cancer treatment in older individuals. While immunotherapy targeting the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway can reinvigorate T cells, these cells tend to become senescent with age. This study investigates different CD8 T cell subsets usually associated with senescence, in cancer patients over 70 years old who are undergoing anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy, and examines the relationship between these senescent cells and prior chemotherapy exposure.

December 2024
Department of Physical Education & Sport Sciences, University of Limerick, Castletroy, Limerick, Ireland.
Purpose: It is presumed by many that acute sleep loss results in degraded in-game esports (competitive, organized video game play) performance. However, this has not been experimentally investigated to date. The objective of the current experiment was to elucidate whether ~29hrs of total sleep deprivation impacts in-game performance for the popular esport
Patients And Methods: Twenty skill-matched pairs (N = 40 total) were recruited.
