The standard treatment for chronic osteomyelitis after trauma is affected bone resection and bone and soft tissue defect reconstruction. However, few reports exist regarding chronic osteomyelitis after bone tumor surgery. We retrospectively reviewed five cases of chronic infection after bone tumor surgery, including their treatment strategy and clinical course.

Persistent effects of adolescent morphine exposure on neurobiological processes and behaviors in adulthood have been partially identified. Hypersensitivity following adolescent exposure to morphine is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon whose underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. This study aimed to investigate the involvement of microglia in neuropathic pain sensitivity following adolescent morphine exposure, focused on hippocampal genes expression and plasticity.

Advancements in the treatment of burns have considerably improved overall survival rates, but they have also highlighted several long-term sequelae related to the injury. Hypertrophic scars can impair function, reduce quality of life, and require multiple procedures as well as physical therapy. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of topical application of anti-inflammatory drugs in the treatment of burns.

Cobalt toxicity is difficult to detect and therefore often underdiagnosed. The aim of this study was to explore the pathophysiology of cobalt-induced oxidative stress in the brain and its impact on structure and function. Thirty-five wild-type C57B16 mice received intraperitoneal cobalt chloride injections: a single high dose with evaluations at 24, 48, and 72 h ( = 5, each) or daily low doses for 28 ( = 5) or 56 days ( = 15).

Cerebral malaria is the worst complication of malaria infection, has a high mortality rate, and may cause different neurodysfunctions, including cognitive decline. Neuroinflammation is an important cause of cognitive damage in neurodegenerative diseases, and microglial cells can be activated in a disease-associated profile leading to tissue damage and neuronal death. Here, we demonstrated that treatment with minocycline reduced blood-brain barrier breakdown and modulated ICAM1 mRNA expression; reduced proinflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IFN-γ, and IL-6; and prevented long-term cognitive decline in contextual and aversive memory tasks.
