Even though numerous bioinspired catalysts have been developed, there remain huge gaps between the artificial and natural catalysts, because it is very difficult to imitate simultaneously the complicated constituents, structures, and synergistic effect of enzymes. We report herein a versatile metalloporphyrinic framework platform, which exhibits high efficiency in bioinspired catalysis, photocatalysis, and asymmetric catalysis. The catalytic properties are highly dependent on the tunable constituents and their cooperation, and are significantly superior to the corresponding molecular catalyst systems which lack the synergistic effects. Since there are numerous functional moieties that can readily be incorporated into the metalloporphyrinic framework platform, a myriad of applications can be simply realized by embedding different functional moieties.

Quantitative analysis of As(V) in rice is of great significance for food safety and heavy metal pollution control. Here, a facile colorimetric method for As(V) detection was constructed by using immobilized acid phosphatase (ACP) in hollow metal-organic frameworks hybrid. Metalloporphyrin and gold nanoparticles modified hollow zeolite imidazole framework-8 [Au/HZIF-8@TCPP(Fe)], named AuHT, was chosen here as ACP immobilizing carrier with peroxidase-like activity.

Inserting metal ions into the porphyrin ring is one of the primary strategies to enhance the properties of porphyrin-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). However, the straightforward, rapid, and energy-efficient synthesis of porphyrin-based MOFs with high metallization for the porphyrin ring remains challenging. Herein, a solution anode glow discharge (SAGD) microplasma is presented for the one-step synthesis of scandium-metalloporphyrin frameworks (ScMPFs).

Regioselective -alkylation of benzotriazole is highly important to prepare biological materials. Herein, a series of AB-typed porphyrin and metalloporphyrin compounds were prepared. Catalytic results disclosed that Ir(III) pentafluorophenyl-substituted porphyrin promoted selective -alkylation of benzotriazole, and meanwhile, Fe(III) pyridine-substituted porphyrin accelerated -alkylation of benzotriazole.

The oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is one of the most critical reactions in energy conversion systems, and it facilitates the efficient conversion of chemical energy into electrical energy, which is necessary for modern technology. Developing efficient and cost-effective catalysts for ORRs is crucial for advancing and effectively applying renewable energy technologies such as fuel cells, metal-air batteries, and electrochemical sensors. In recent years, iron porphyrin-based composites have emerged as ideal catalysts for facilitating effective ORRs due to their unique structural characteristics, abundance, advances in synthesis, and excellent catalytic properties, which mimic natural enzymatic systems.

Given the crucial role of thiols in maintaining normal physiological functions, it is essential to establish a high-throughput and sensitive analytical method to identify and quantify various thiols accurately. Inspired by the iron porphyrin active center of natural horseradish peroxidase (HRP), we designed and synthesized two iron porphyrin covalent organic frameworks (Fe-COF-H and Fe-COF-OH) with notable peroxidase-like (POD) activity, capable of catalyzing 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) into oxidized TMB with three distinct absorption peaks. Based on these, a six-channel nanozyme colorimetric sensor array was constructed, which could map the specific fingerprints of various thiols.
