Verrucous carcinoma (VC) is a rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). It is described as a low grade, slow growing, locally infiltrative neoplasm that accounts for 3%-8% of penile SCCs. Here we report a case of destructive VC of the glans penis in a paraplegic man resulting in a hypospadias from the tip of the glans to the corona. Histology demonstrated exophytic squamous epithelial proliferation with characteristic round, pushing borders. In situ hybridization was positive for both low-risk and high-risk strains of human papillomavirus.

Context: Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is the most common neonatal endocrine disorder and is chiefly caused by thyroid dysgenesis (CHTD). The inheritance mode of the disease remains complex.
Objectives: Gain insight into the inheritance mode of CHTD.

Developmental anomalies of the hearing organ, the cochlea, are diagnosed in approximately one-fourth of individuals with congenital. The majority of patients with cochlear malformations remain etiologically undiagnosed due to insufficient knowledge about underlying genes or the inability to make conclusive interpretations of identified genetic variants. We used exome sequencing for the genetic evaluation of hearing loss associated with cochlear malformations in three probands from unrelated families deafness.

Background: Luteinizing hormone (LH) plays a crucial role in the postnatal development and maturation of gonads. Inactivating mutations of the luteinizing hormone beta subunit (LHB)gene are extremely rare and can result in congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (CHH).
Methods: We conducted DNA sequencing on an 18-year-old female patient with undetectable LH and clinical symptoms of CHH.

Gallstones are among the most frequent hepatobiliary conditions. Although in most cases, they remain asymptomatic, they can cause complications and, in such cases, invasive treatments like endoscopic retrograde cholangiography (ERC) or cholecystectomy are required. Here, we present the results of genetic testing of a single family with a high incidence of symptomatic gallstones and cholestatic liver phenotypes.

Background: A rare reelin gene variant (RELN-COLBOS mutation) delayed dementia onset in almost 30 years in an autosomal dominant Alzheimer's disease (ADAD) carrier. This patient presented with high amyloid-β (Aβ) plaque load, but low tau accumulation, suggesting that this single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in RELN conferred a resilience not only to cognitive decline but also to tauopathy in ADAD. However, whether RELN SNPs are also protective in sporadic Alzheimer's disease (AD) is yet to be determined.
