Lung cancer treatment is evolving, and the role of senescent macrophages in tumor immune evasion has become a key focus. This study explores how senescent macrophages interact with lung cancer cells, contributing to tumor progression and immune dysfunction. As aging impairs macrophage functions, including phagocytosis and metabolic signaling, it promotes chronic inflammation and cancer development.

Background: Genetic variants that confer protection from Alzheimer's disease (AD) may be particularly critical in developing therapeutics. To target protective variant identification, we performed genetic association testing among selected individuals with whole genome sequencing (WGS) that remained alive and dementia-free beyond age 85 ("Wellderly").
Methods: We selected 1,873 White and Black Wellderly individuals with documented normal cognition beyond age 85 as determined by direct, in-person assessment with WGS from the NHLBI TOPMed project.

The review presents the results of long-term research conducted by the staff of the Saint-Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, dedicated to the study of the biological activity of peptide bioregulators at all levels of a living organism's organization. This review compares the findings of domestic and international studies in this field. At the same time, the priority of Russian scientists in the use of buccal epithelium as a diagnostic marker of age-associated pathology is indicated.

Chronic kidney disease is defined as a progressive loss of kidney function associated with impaired recovery after acute kidney injury. Renal ischemia-reperfusion (IR) induces oxidative stress and inflammatory responses leading to severe tissue damage, where incomplete or maladaptive repair accelerates renal fibrosis and aging. To investigate the role of the purinergic P2Y2 receptor (P2Y2R) in these processes, we used P2Y2R knockout (KO) mice subjected to IR.

Background: The p16/CDKN2A protein is being explored as an independent prognostic marker in laryngeal cancer, with studies suggesting that p16-positive patients may have a better prognosis. While its role is well-established in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) related to HPV, ongoing research indicates its potential prognostic value in laryngeal cancer, even in HPV-negative cases.
Methods: In this study, we investigated the association between survival outcomes and p16 expression in a cohort of 310 laryngeal cancer patients from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Program and the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC).
