We present a joint experimental and theoretical study of spin dynamics of a single ^{88}Sr^{+} ion colliding with an ultracold cloud of Rb atoms in various hyperfine states. While spin exchange between the two species occurs after 9.1(6) Langevin collisions on average, spin relaxation of the Sr^{+} ion Zeeman qubit occurs after 48(7) Langevin collisions, which is significantly slower than in previously studied systems due to a small second-order spin-orbit coupling. Furthermore, a reduction of the endothermic spin-exchange rate is observed as the magnetic field is increased. Interestingly, we find that while the phases acquired when colliding on the spin singlet and triplet potentials vary largely between different partial waves, the singlet-triplet phase difference, which determines the spin-exchange cross section, remains locked to a single value over a wide range of partial waves, which leads to quantum interference effects.

Objectives: This study examines whether social engagement at the time of retirement is associated with better cognitive function and slower cognitive decline.
Methods: Data come from 10 waves of the Health and Retirement Study, linked with data from the Consumption and Activities Mail Survey (CAMS). Respondents included those who had transitioned from working full-time to partial or full retirement.

Background: Despite earlier research indicating a potential link between the development of sarcopenia and an elevated risk of frailty, the lack of comprehensive prospective data on the correlation between sarcopenia and frailty incidence leaves open the question of whether depression and cognitive function mediate this association.
Objective: The principal aim of the current investigation was to evaluate the intricate interplay among sarcopenia, depression, and cognitive function collectively influence the risk of developing frailty.
Methods: The participants included in this study were obtained from three waves of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), which collectively encompassed a total of 3,108 participants.

This study presented a novel approach for the precise ablation of breast tumors using focused ultrasound (FUS), leveraging a physics-informed neural network (PINN) integrated with a realistic breast model. FUS has shown significant promise in treating breast tumors by effectively targeting and ablating cancerous tissue. This technique employs concentrated ultrasonic waves to generate intense heat, effectively destroying cancerous tissue.

The rovibrational energy-level structures of BaH and BaD in their XΣ electronic ground state have been characterised by pulsed-field-ionisation zero-kinetic-energy photoelectron spectroscopy following resonance-enhanced (1 + 1') two-photon excitation from the BaH/BaD X Σ ground state the E Π (' = 0, 1) intermediate levels. A full set of rovibrational molecular constants for the BaH and BaD ground states has been derived for the first time and the adiabatic ionisation energies of BaH and BaD were determined to be 38 679.96(20) and 38 652.

Case Summary: A 16-year-old spayed female domestic shorthair cat with methimazole-treated hyperthyroidism presented with a chronic progressive history of a stiff gait progressing to recumbency. A neurological examination revealed continuous excessive muscle tone with myokymia, which exacerbated with exercise and persisted during general anaesthesia. An electromyographic study revealed myokymic discharges in all tested muscles, as well as complex repetitive discharges, fibrillation potentials and positive sharp waves.
