A common reason for nonuse of modern contraceptives is concern about side effects and health complications. This article provides a detailed characterization of the belief that modern contraceptives cause infertility, and an examination of how this belief arises and spreads, and why it is so salient. We conducted focus group discussions and key informant interviews in three rural communities along Kenya's eastern coast, and identified the following themes: (1) the belief that using modern contraception at a young age or before childbirth can make women infertile is widespread; (2) according to this belief, the most commonly used methods in the community were linked to infertility; (3) when women observe other women who cannot get pregnant after using modern contraceptives, they attribute the infertility to the use of contraception; (4) within the communities, the primary goal of marriage is childbirth and thus community approval is rigidly tied to childbearing; and, therefore (5) the social consequences of infertility are devastating. These findings may help inform the design of programs to address this belief and reduce unmet need.

Collective continuity, the perception of the ingroup as an enduring temporal entity, has been linked with ingroup favouritism, negative attitudes and prejudice towards the outgroups. However, previous studies focused mainly on the perceived connection between the past and present of the group. We proposed that the expectation of a strong similarity between the present and future of the national ingroup, future collective continuity (FCC), positively affects present intergroup relations construals.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a history of thousands of years in China. The Tongfeng Qingxiao Formula (TFQXF), after decoction and oral administration, has shown significant therapeutic effects on Gouty arthritis (GA). TCM is often considered an experiential medicine, lacking modern scientific research, and the efficacy of TFQXF faces the same issue.

An innovative integrated three-dimensional (3D) bioprinted gastric microtissue electrochemical biosensor was developed in this study for the detection of allergen ovalbumin (OVA). In this system, OVA triggers the release of histamine from gastric microtissue, which then undergoes a redox reaction on the electrode surface, leading to an increase in the peak current. Gelatin methacrylate hydrogel serves as a scaffold for the 3D culture of RBL-2H3 and PC-12 cells for partially restoring allergic reactions in the human body in vitro.

Bovine endometritis has become a persistent issue in the global dairy business, resulting in huge economic losses. Due to their numerous positive benefits, Chinese herbal medicines (CHMs) have recently demonstrated remarkable pharmacological potential against endometritis. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects and elucidate the underlying mechanisms of the Yimucao formula (YMF) that involves five herbs in lactation cows under endometritis conditions.

This study offers a comprehensive analysis of the Perturbed Schrödinger -Hirota Equation (PSHE), crucial for understanding soliton dynamics in modern optical communication systems. We extended the traditional Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation (NLSE) to include higher-order nonlinearities and spatiotemporal dispersion, capturing the complexities of light pulse propagation. Employing the modified auxiliary equation method and Adomian Decomposition Method (ADM), we derived a spectrum of exact traveling wave solutions, encompassing exponential, rational, trigonometric, and hyperbolic functions.
