Banding analyses of a human benign pleomorphic adenoma in the parotid gland revealed a polyclonal pattern where structural rearrangements predominated. These deviations were different from the anomalies previously observed in 100 mixed tumors. The reason found for the differences in all likelihood was x-ray treatment of tuberculous lymphadenitis in the neck during childhood. Implications regarding origin and development of pleomorphic adenomas are discussed.

We present a series of articles proving the existence of a previously unknown mechanism of interaction between hematopoietic stem cells and extracellular double-stranded DNA (and, in particular, double-stranded DNA of the peripheral bloodstream), which explains the possibility of emergence and fixation of genetic information contained in double-stranded DNA of extracellular origin in hematopoietic stem cells. The concept of the possibility of stochastic or targeted changes in the genome of hematopoietic stem cells is formulated based on the discovery of new, previously unknown biological properties of poorly differentiated hematopoietic precursors. The main provisions of the concept are as follows.

Background: In Europe, canine leishmaniasis is commonly caused by Leishmania infantum. Allopurinol is the main drug for long-term management of the disease, and clinical relapses of L. infantum infection treated with this drug are described.

Introduction: Anticentromere autoantibodies are associated with refractory IVF/ET failure, but causality is unclear. Experimental models are needed.
Methods: Immature oocytes collected from 23-day-old mice were matured in vitro for 18 h in a culture medium containing an anti-human centromere protein A (CENP-A) polyclonal antibody, and those oocytes' maturity and chromosome/spindle structure were assessed.

Equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) causes rhinopneumonitis, abortion, and neurological outbreaks (equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy, EHM) in horses. EHV-1 also causes lethal encephalitis in small laboratory animals such as mice and hamsters experimentally. EHV-1 ORF76 is a homolog of HSV-1 US9, which is a herpesvirus kinase.
