The effect of corticotropin (ACTH1-39), synacthen (ACTH1-24) and hydrocortisone-hemisuccinate on the activity of Ca-ATPase of skeletal muscle sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) and calcium (Ca) accumulation in SR vesicles has been studied. It has been shown that ACTH1-39 (I U per 100 g body weight) increased the activity of Ca-ATPase in skeletal muscle SR of rats, while hydrocortisone (5 mg per 100 g body weight) did not change the activity of Ca-ATPase in skeletal muscle SR. However, both hormones increase the total activity of ATPase. ACTH1-39 and ACTH1-24 (0.05-0.0005 U/ml) and hydrocortisone (2.8 X 10(-7)-2.8 X 10(-9) mol/l) increased in vitro Ca-ATPase isolated from rabbit skeletal muscle SR and accumulation of Ca is SR vesicles. At the same time, hydrocortisone reduced calcium/phosphorus ratio, while ACTH1-39 and ACTH1-24 increased it, i.e. hydrocortisone facilitated Ca accumulation in SR requiring more ATP energy, whereas ACTH facilitated Ca accumulation in SR requiring less ATP energy.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different cold acclimation strategies on exercise performance in male mice exposed to low-temperature environments.
Methods: Male mice were subjected to five distinct acclimation regimens over 8 weeks: immersion at 10 °C (10 °CI) or 20 °C (20 °CI), swimming at 10 °C (10 °CS), 20 °C (20 °CS), or 34 °C (34 °CS). During the first 2 weeks, the acclimation time progressively decreased from 30 min to 3 min per day, and the water temperatures were lowered from 34 °C to the target levels, followed by 6 weeks of consistent exposure.

Purpose: The primary objective was to compare the intra- and postoperative outcomes of diaphragmatic stripping versus full-thickness diaphragmatic resection in patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis who underwent cytoreductive surgery.
Methods: According to the PRSIMA guidelines, a comprehensive literature search was conducted for studies comparing postoperative pulmonary complications as well as intra- and postoperative outcomes of diaphragmatic stripping versus full-thickness diaphragmatic resection in patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis necessitating cytoreductive surgery. Data from eligible studies were extracted, qualitatively assessed, and included in a meta-analysis.
