Background And Objectives: The reasons behind the removal of the biopsy tract in osteosarcomas are not well known, and studies about tumor seeding in the biopsy tract have generated conflicting results. This study is designed to evaluate the presence and possible clinical significance of tumor cell seeding in the biopsy tract of osteosarcomas.
Methods: We prospectively evaluated 55 cases of osteosarcomas for tumor cell seeding and other clinical and pathologic prognostic parameters.
Results: Eleven cases (20%) involved microscopic tumor foci in the biopsy tract. The higher local recurrence rates (P = 0.005) and worse recurrence-free survivals ( P = 0.009) were observed in patients with tumor cell foci in the biopsy tract. Mitotic rate, tumor cell pleomorphism, and matrix production in main tumor foci were higher in cases with tumor seeding ( P = 0.047, P = 0.012, and P = 0.005, respectively) CONCLUSIONS: Tumor seeding in the biopsy tract is a fact in osteosarcomas. The higher local recurrence rates are more likely to occur in cases with tumor seeding.

Duddingtonia flagrans is a nematode-trapping fungus that is widely used to control parasitic nematodes in livestock. After oral ingestion and passage through the digestive tract of animals, this microorganism captures nematodes in feces. Although many researchers have examined the safety of this fungus for humans, animals, and the environment, few reports have discussed the safety of nematode-trapping D.

SARS-CoV-2 is the viral pathogen responsible for COVID-19. Although morbidity and mortality frequently occur as a result of lung disease, the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is recognized as a primary location for SARS-CoV-2. Connections and interactions between the microbiome of the gut and respiratory system have been linked with viral infections via what has been referred to as the 'gut-lung axis' with potential aerodigestive communication in health and disease.

While short-read next-generation sequencing technology has been used for the genetic testing of PCD, its effectiveness is limited in identifying variants in the gene because of the nearly identical pseudogene As we confirmed that the gene was not expressed in airway cells, we obtained nasal mucosa biopsy specimens for total RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) with library enrichment using exome oligos. Among the 34 nasal samples from patients suspected of having PCD, three aberrant splicing patterns in were identified in two samples.
