Purpose Of Review: To review the literature in 2017 and 2018 pertaining to biometry for cataract surgery and report pertinent findings.
Recent Findings: New devices using swept-source ocular coherence tomography can measure axial length in dense cataracts more frequently than common biometers. Computer-assisted registration may be superior to intraoperative aberrometry for toric intraocular lens (IOL) placement. Soft contact lenses may not require removal as long before biometry as previously thought. The Barrett Universal II IOL formula has been found to perform well at all axial lengths.
Summary: New swept-source ocular coherence tomography biometers are more frequently successful at measuring axial length in dense cataracts which promises to improve refractive outcomes. Accuracy in toric IOL placement is likely to increase with improved devices. It may not be necessary to have patients remove soft contact lens any more than 2 days prior to biometry. The Barrett Universal II IOL formula may be used confidently for most eyes. Advancements acknowledged, purchasing new equipment will not be necessary for all surgeons.

Objective: This study investigates the refractive accuracy of eight intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation formulas in patients with postoperative refractive surprise after phacoemulsification. It aims to determine if a different formula could result in better refractive outcomes in these eyes.
Methods And Analysis: We retrospectively reviewed consecutive patients undergoing uncomplicated phacoemulsification as a sole procedure between March 2007 and September 2020 at the University of Washington by glaucoma subspecialists as part of a study investigating cataract surgery in normal eyes.

Methods: Ambispective analysis was conducted on 105 eyes at the Samsung Medical Center, Seoul, Republic of Korea, between June 2021 and March 2022. Biometric values were assessed using both devices before cataract surgery.

Relative anterior microphthalmos (RAM) is a rare ocular condition characterized by disproportionately small anterior segments but normal axial length (corneal diameter < 11 mm and axial length > 20 mm). This study aimed to determine the prevalence of RAM and its association with glaucoma utilizing IOL Master 700 data (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Jena, Germany). A retrospective analysis was conducted of the biometric parameters of 6,407 eyes, and 115 cases of RAM were identified.

Objective: The aim of this study is to compare the results of preoperative biometric data measured with optical biometers of different generations in patients with cataract. Lenstar optical biometry is based on the principle of optical low-coherence reflectometry (OLCR), and Anterion on swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT).
Material And Methods: A total of 200 eyes (103 patients) were included in a prospective study at the Faculty Hospital in Trenčín the period from June 2023 to January 2024.
