The doubly charmed baryon decay Ξ_{cc}^{++}→Ξ_{c}^{+}π^{+} is observed for the first time, with a statistical significance of 5.9σ, confirming a recent observation of the baryon in the Λ_{c}^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{+} final state. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.7  fb^{-1}, collected by the LHCb experiment in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The Ξ_{cc}^{++} mass is measured to be 3620.6±1.5(stat)±0.4(syst)±0.3(Ξ_{c}^{+})  MeV/c^{2} and is consistent with the previous result. The ratio of branching fractions between the decay modes is measured to be [B(Ξ_{cc}^{++}→Ξ_{c}^{+}π^{+})×B(Ξ_{c}^{+}→pK^{-}π^{+})]/[B(Ξ_{cc}^{++}→Λ_{c}^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{+})×B(Λ_{c}^{+}→pK^{-}π^{+})]=0.035±0.009(stat)±0.003(syst).

The first hyperon was discovered about 70 years ago, but the nature of these particles, particularly with regard to multistrange hyperons, and many of their properties can still be considered to be literally strange. A dedicated and successful global spectroscopy program in the 1960s and 1970s usingK-beams revealed many multistrange candidates, but the available evidence of their existence is statistically limited. For this reason, there is still much to learn about the systematics of the spectrum of excited hyperon states and what they have in common with their non-strange companions, or how they differ from the nucleon and Δ resonances.

Doubly Charmed Tetraquark T_{cc}^{+} from Lattice QCD near Physical Point.

Phys Rev Lett

October 2023

State Key Laboratory of Nuclear Physics and Technology, School of Physics, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China.

The doubly charmed tetraquark T_{cc}^{+} recently discovered by the LHCb Collaboration is studied on the basis of (2+1)-flavor lattice QCD simulations of the D^{*}D system with nearly physical pion mass m_{π}=146  MeV. The interaction of D^{*}D in the isoscalar and S-wave channel, derived from the hadronic spacetime correlation by the HAL QCD method, is attractive for all distances and leads to a near-threshold virtual state with a pole position E_{pole}=-59(_{-99}^{+53})(_{-67}^{+2})  keV and a large scattering length 1/a_{0}=0.05(5)(_{-2}^{+2})  fm^{-1}.

A combined amplitude analysis is performed for the decays B^{0}→D[over ¯]^{0}D_{s}^{+}π^{-} and B^{+}→D^{-}D_{s}^{+}π^{+}, which are related by isospin symmetry. The analysis is based on data collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The full data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb^{-1}.

Beauty and charm quarks are ideal probes of pertubative Quantum Chromodymanics in proton-proton collisions, owing to their large masses. In this paper the role of multi-parton interactions in the production of doubly-heavy hadrons is studied using simulation samples generated with Pythia, a Monte Carlo event generator. Comparisons are made to the stand-alone generators BcVegPy and GenXicc.

Signature of a Doubly Charm Tetraquark Pole in DD^{*} Scattering on the Lattice.

Phys Rev Lett

July 2022

Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The doubly charm tetraquark with flavor ccu[over ¯]d[over ¯] and isospin I=0 is investigated by calculating the DD^{*} scattering amplitude with lattice QCD. The simulation is done on CLS ensembles with dynamical u/d, s quarks and m_{π}≃280  MeV for two charm quark masses, one slightly larger and one slightly lower than the physical value. The scattering amplitudes for partial waves l=0, 1 are extracted near threshold via the Lüscher method by considering systems with total momenta PL/(2π)=0,1,sqrt[2],2 on two spatial volumes.
