The objective was to critically analyze studies that evaluated the predictive capacity of indicators of visceral adiposity in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The bibliographic research was carried out using the electronic database PubMed, LILACS and SciELO, references of selected articles. Although we found few studies, they have already used several indicators of visceral adiposity as waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, waist-to-height ratio, Lipid accumulation product, Body Shape Index, Body Roundness Index and most them were good predictors of NAFLD. Thus, the anthropometric indicators may contribute for the diagnosis of NAFLD in a simple, low-cost and non-invasive way, allowing early therapeutic measures to prevent the evolution to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a chronic condition characterized by hepatic steatosis in the absence of significant alcohol consumption and is increasingly recognized as the hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome (MetS). This review aims to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying the interaction between NAFLD, insulin resistance (IR), and MetS, with a focus on identifying therapeutic targets. A comprehensive review of existing literature on NAFLD, IR, and MetS was conducted.

Introduction: Nonfunctioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NF-PNETs) have been diagnosed increasingly often but still represent rare pancreatic neoplasms. Surgery is a potentially curative approach for patients with NF-PNETs. In recent years, minimally invasive surgery (MIS) has been applied more frequently for surgical resection of NF-PNETs.

The generated data were used to examine the effects of ipragliflozin and metformin on indices of hepatic steatosis and liver fibrosis.
Materials And Methods: In total, 103 Japanese patients with type-2 diabetes (T2D), body mass index (BMI) of ≥22 kg/m and glycated haemoglobin level of 7%-10% were randomly administered ipragliflozin 50 mg or metformin 1000 mg for 24 weeks.

Background: Pancreatic enucleation is indicated for selected patients and tumours with very low oncological risk to preserve a maximum of healthy pancreatic parenchyma. Minimally invasive pancreatic enucleation (MIPE) is increasingly performed. This study aims to assess the impact of tumor location and center experience on textbook outcomes (TBO) in patients undergoing MIPE.

Background: Although the presence of both obesity and reduced muscle mass presents a dual metabolic burden and additively has a negative effect on a variety of cardiometabolic parameters, data regarding the associations between their combined effects and left ventricular diastolic function are limited. This study investigated the association between the ratio of skeletal muscle mass to visceral fat area (SVR) and left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) in patients with preserved ejection fraction using random forest machine learning.
Methods: In total, 1,070 participants with preserved left ventricular ejection fractions who underwent comprehensive health examinations, including transthoracic echocardiography and bioimpedance body composition analysis, were enrolled.
