The tardigrade was chosen as a model system in part because embryos and animals are optically clear at all stages, facilitating the viewing and filming of internal processes. Multiplane video recordings under differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy have allowed early embryonic cell lineages to be reconstructed through seven rounds of division and have revealed invariant patterns of asymmetric cell divisions, nuclear migrations, and cell migrations. Here, we present a protocol for filming embryonic development of by DIC microscopy.

Alarmins are a class of molecules released when affected cells damaged or undergo apoptosis. They contain various chemotactic and immunomodulatory proteins or peptides. These molecules regulate the immune response by interacting with pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) and play important roles in inflammatory response, tissue repair, infection defense, and cancer treatment.

Background: Oocyte maturation defect (OMD) and early embryonic arrest result in female infertility. Previous studies have linked biallelic mutations in the PATL2 gene to OMD, yet the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown.
Results: This study uncovers three novel mutations (c.

Background/aim: The study examines whether DNA level mutations in the carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 5 (CEACAM5) gene Pro-Glu-Leu-Pro-Lys (PELPK) motif differ between patients with appendiceal or colorectal adenocarcinoma. Significant differences between these two groups in correlation with development of metachronous liver metastases could help in the development of targeted therapies and preventative treatment approaches.
Patients And Methods: This retrospective comparative trial analysed 18 patients, 9 with appendiceal adenocarcinoma and 9 with colorectal adenocarcinoma.

Observational studies have found that elevated serum homocysteine (Hcy) levels during pregnancy may be associated with the occurrence of neural tube defects (NTDs). However, the effect of Hcy on fetal neural development and its underlying molecular mechanisms remains unclear. To uncover the molecular mechanism, we analyzed the serum Hcy concentration in pregnant women with normal and abnormal pregnancy outcomes and treated zebrafish model embryos with high Hcy.
