Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have recently attracted considerable attention because of their fascinating structures and intriguing potential applications in diverse areas. In this study, we developed a novel method for determination of enantiomeric excess () of (±)-1,1'-bi-2-naphthol by solid-phase extraction (SPE) using a chiral MOF, [Co(l-tyr)](l-tyrCo), as sorbent. After optimization of the experimental conditions, a good linear relationship between the and the absorbance of the eluate (² = 0.9984) was obtained and the standard curve was established at the concentration of 3 mmol L¹. The values of (±)-1,1'-bi-2-naphthol samples can be rapidly calculated using the standard curve after determination of the absorbance of the eluate. The method showed good accuracy, with an average error of 2.26%, and is promising for analysis.

Bibenzyls and dihydrophenanthrenes exhibit promising immunomodulatory effects in various human diseases. In this study, we isolated one new dihydrophenanthrene derivative (), two new bibenzyl-dihydrophenanthrene derivatives () along with 12 known compounds (-) from the methanol extract of . These compounds were identified by using physicochemical analyses and spectroscopic methods.

ConspectusSymmetry is a pervasive phenomenon spanning diverse fields, from art and architecture to mathematics and science. In the scientific realms, symmetry reveals fundamental laws, while symmetry breaking─the collapse of certain symmetry─is the underlying cause of phenomena. Research on symmetry and symmetry breaking consistently provides valuable insights across disciplines, from parity violation in physics to the origin of homochirality in biology.

Members of the genus are well known for their medicinal properties, which can be attributed to their essential oils. In this work, we have examined the leaf essential oils of five understudied species collected from various locations in western North America. The essential oils were obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatographic methods, including enantioselective gas chromatography.

Tea tree oil (TTO), acquired from (Maiden & Betche) Cheel, Myrtaceae, is a widely utilized essential oil (EO) due to its bioactive properties. The identification and quantification of TTO ingredients is generally performed by GC-MS, which provides the most accurate results. However, in some instances, the cost and time of analysis may pose a challenge.
