We present a case of masticatory muscle tendon- aponeurosis hyperplasia in a patient who underwent general anesthesia for gynecologic surgery. The patient's square-shaped mandible was noticed during preoperative assessment by an anesthesiologist. Further investigation revealed masticatory muscle tendon- aponeurosis hyperplasia. Anesthetic induction agents were administered, and facemask ventilation was initi- ated easily. As the anesthesiologist had predicted, the patient's mouth opening was reduced after administration of muscle relaxants, and keeping her mouth open was more difficult than when she was conscious. Nasotracheal intubation was performed successfully using a bronchoscope. Patients with muscle tendon- aponeurosis hyperplasia do not generally have associated pain, and do not know that they have a limited mouth opening. They are therefore sometimes unaware that they have the condition. Anesthesiologists need to predict that airway intubation will be difficult when the patient has a limited mouth opening associated with a square-shaped mandible.

Locked-in syndrome is a rare neurological disorder. It is characterized by tetraparesis, paralysis of facial and masticatory muscles, anarthria and pseudobulbar syndrome with possible preservation of vertical movements of the eyeballs and blinking, as well as preservation of consciousness. A serious problem with the «locked-in person» syndrome is the inability of the patient to socialize, which causes him to experience no less suffering than from physical limitations.

Introduction: Restricted mouth opening has major health implications, such as malnutrition, difficulty in speech, and poor oral hygiene resulting in a functional shortage of the masticatory system. Reduced mouth opening can occur due to trismus, as in the oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) condition. Excision of fibrous bands in OSMF leads to reestablishment of the mouth opening.

Muscle mass has been traditionally assessed by measuring paraspinal muscle areas at the level of the third lumbar vertebra on computed tomography (CT). Neurological or neurosurgical patients seldom undergo CT scans of the lumbar region. Instead, temporal muscle thickness (TMT), cross-sectional area (TMA) and radiodensity measured from head CT scans are readily available measures of muscle mass and quality in these patient cohorts.

Objective: To compare the ultrasonographic characteristics of masseter muscles in temporomandibular disorder (TMD) subjects with a diagnosis of myalgia of the masticatory muscles to a control population.
Method: In total, 45 TMD subjects with masseter muscle myalgia according to the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders were compared with 45 control subjects. The masseter muscles of each subject were examined by ultrasonography (US) to assess the quantitative characteristic of local cross-sectional dimension (LCSD) and the qualitative parameters of intramuscular ultrasonographic appearance, anechoic areas, and isoechogenic areas.

Background: Bilateral trigeminal neuralgia secondary to multiple sclerosis is an extremely rare condition. When Gasserian ganglion block is performed, it is necessary to achieve reliable long-term analgesic effects while avoiding treatment-related complications.
Case Presentation: A 49-year-old male with multiple sclerosis exhibited persistent dull pain and paroxysmal electric shock-like pain in his bilateral maxillary molars and mandible.
