The data presented in this article are related to the research article entitled "Increased Mitochondrial Protein Levels and Bioenergetics in the of Wfs1-Deficient mice" (Eimre et al., accepted for publication). This dataset reports the analysis of Wfs1-deficient mouse heart, , and white part of by liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry. Label-free quantitative analysis of the mass spectrometry data identified 4056 proteins, with 114, 212, and 1290 proteins differentially expressed (-test; < 0.05) in the heart, . , and , respectively, between the Wfs1-deficient and wild-type groups. Eight proteins were found to be differentially expressed in all mentioned muscles, with 1 protein differently expressed in oxidative ( and heart) and 88 in skeletal muscles. This dataset supports the cited study and can be used to extend additional analyses. Data are available via ProteomeXchange with identifier PXD011019.

Cholinesterase (ChE) inhibitors are under consideration to be used in the treatment of cardiovascular pathologies. A prerequisite to advancing ChE inhibitors into the clinic is their thorough characterization in the heart. The aim here was to provide a detailed analysis of cardiac ChE to understand their molecular composition, localization, and physiological functions.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) leads to a more rapid development of DM cardiomyopathy (dbCM) and progression to heart failure in women than men. Combination of high-fat diet (HFD) and freshly-injected streptozotocin (STZ) has been widely used for DM induction, however emerging data shows that anomer-equilibrated STZ produces an early onset and robust DM model. We designed a novel protocol utilising a combination of multiple doses of anomer-equilibrated STZ injections and HFD to develop a stable murine DM model featuring dbCM analogous to humans.

Macrophages play a crucial role in the immune response during allograft rejection in organ transplantation. Therefore, our study aimed to explore the genomic features of macrophages in mouse heart transplants and use single-cell RNA sequencing to investigate Galectin-9 (Gal-9, Lgals9), a lectin that can mediate the activation and differentiation of immune cells through ligand-receptor interactions, and the effects of its regulation in transplantation. We discovered a new subset of macrophages called "Myoz2+ macrophages", which specifically expressed genes related to myocardial contraction.

Non-Canonical TERT Activity Initiates Osteogenesis in Calcific Aortic Valve Disease.

Background: Calcific aortic valve disease is the pathological remodeling of valve leaflets. The initial steps in valve leaflet osteogenic reprogramming are not fully understood. As TERT (telomerase reverse transcriptase) overexpression primes mesenchymal stem cells to differentiate into osteoblasts, we investigated whether TERT contributes to the osteogenic reprogramming of valve interstitial cells.

Immune-checkpoint-inhibitors (ICI) target key regulators of the immune system expressed by cancer cells that mask those from recognition by the immune system. They have improved the outcome for patients with various cancer types, such as melanoma. ICI-based therapy is frequently accompanied by immune-related adverse side effects (IRAEs).
