The purpose of this methodological study was to develop a measure to be used for the evaluation of health professionals' knowledge and attitudes about catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) control precautions. Results indicated the total score of the scale, and correlation values ranged between 0.479 and 0.748. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value was found to be .886, which indicates the adequacy of the sample, and Barlett's test results indicated correlation between the items (p < .01). Cronbach's alpha value of the scale was found to be .75. The developed CAUTI Control Precautions Scale was found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool that could be used in assessing health professionals' knowledge and attitudes toward CAUTI control precautions. Mucormycosis is a rare but fatal opportunistic fungal infection. Patients with hematologic malignancies who use immunosuppressant and glucocorticoid extensively are susceptible to mucormycosis. We report a case of an older patient with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who was infected with pulmonary mucormycosis during chemotherapy.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in Australia resulted in significant additional infection control precautions for consumers and the health workforce. Prior to widespread vaccine availability, substantial changes were made to the operating theatre management of patients presenting for surgery with suspected or diagnosed COVID-19. This study aimed to calculate the actual costs of operating theatre care for patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19.

The global spread of the novel coronavirus disease 2019, caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus, impacts individuals of all age groups, including lactating women and children. Concerns have been raised regarding the potential transmission of SARS-CoV-2 from mother to child, following the discovery of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in human milk. Therefore, this study aims to investigate whether the Omicron novel coronavirus variants are transmitted through human milk.

Background: Tau phosphorylated at threonine-217 (tau), which can be measured in plasma and CSF using antibodies, is one of the most promising early biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease (AD). Little was known, however, about the cellular and subcellular distributions of tau, how those levels change during disease progression, the factor(s) that provoke tau accumulation, or functional consequences of tau phosphorylation at T217. This study addressed all of those issues.

Comprehensive molecular profiling by next-generation sequencing has revolutionized tumor classification and biomarker evaluation. However, routine implementation is challenged by the scant nature of diagnostic material obtained through minimally invasive procedures. Here, we describe our long-term experience in profiling cytology samples with an in-depth assessment of the performance, quality metrics, biomarker identification capabilities, and potential pitfalls.
