Article Abstract

An aerobic, Gram-stain negative, rod-shaped and non-motile strain, BJC16-A31, was isolated from the wetland soil sample taken from Daxing'anling, Heilongjiang, People's Republic of China. Strain BJC16-A31 was found to be oxidase- and catalase-positive, and produced light orange colonies on modified R2A agar. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain BJC16-A31 is closely related to Mucilaginibacter gotjawali SA3-7 with 96.54% sequence similarity and it formed a separate lineage in the genus Mucilaginibacter. Strain BJC16-A31 contained menaquinone-7 (MK-7) as the predominant isoprenoid quinine. Anteiso-C, C and anteiso-C were the major fatty acids. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, six unidentified polar lipid, two unidentified aminophospholipids and one unidentified aminolipid. The genome is composed of a circular 5,301,339 bp chromosome with average G + C percentage of 42.25%. The Average Nucleotide Identity (ANI) between strain BJC16-A31 and M. gotjawali SA3-7 was 77.51%. Combined phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic and genomic characteristics support the conclusion that strain BJC16-A31 represents a novel species of the genus Mucilaginibacter, for which the name Mucilaginibacter xinganensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is BJC16-A31 (= CGMCC 1.12728 = NBRC 110384).

Precise Synthesis of 4.75 V-Tolerant LiCoO with Homogeneous Delithiation and Reduced Internal Strain.

The rapid advancements in 3C electronic devices necessitate an increase in the charge cutoff voltage of LiCoO to unlock a higher energy density that surpasses the currently available levels. However, the structural devastation and electrochemical decay of LiCoO are significantly exacerbated, particularly at ≥4.5 V, due to the stress concentration caused by more severe lattice expansion and shrinkage, coupled with heterogeneous Li intercalation/deintercalation reactions.

Diseases that affect the vascular system or the pith are of great economic impact since they can rapidly destroy the affected plants, leading to complete loss in production. Fast and precise identification is thus important to inform containment and management, but many identification methods are slow because they are culture-dependent and they do not reach strain resolution. Here we used culture-independent long-read metagenomic sequencing of DNA extracted directly from stems of two tomato samples that displayed wilt symptoms.

Nosé-Hoover Integrators at-a-Glance: Barostat Integration Has a Demonstrable Effect on Uniaxial Tension Results of Solid Materials.

Molecular dynamics is a popular method for evaluating the tensile stress behaviors of many nanomaterials; however, few manuscripts include their thermostat and barostat damping parameters along with their methods. Here, we illustrate the demonstrable effect that barostat integration has on system dynamics during uniaxial testing under a Nosé-Hoover scheme. Three systems are tested: a 2D graphene sheet, a 3D continuous aluminum volume, and a 3D discontinuous polyvinyl alcohol volume.

Rain cracking compromises quality and quantity of sweet cherries worldwide. Cracking susceptibility differs among genotypes. The objective was to (1) phenotype the progeny of a cross between a tolerant and a susceptible sweet cherry cultivar for cuticle mass per unit area, strain release on cuticle isolation, cuticular microcracking and calcium/dry mass ratio and (2) relate these characteristics to cracking susceptibilities evaluated in laboratory immersion assays and published multiyear field observations.
