The aim of this study was to evaluate the physical performance of the Vereos whole-body PET/CT system according to the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) NU2-2012 standard and to compare it with other state-of-the-art PET/CT systems. Spatial resolution, sensitivity, count-rate performance, count rate accuracy, and image quality were assessed. Specifically, spatial resolution was measured using an F point-source. System sensitivity was calculated from acquisitions of an F line source inside aluminum tubes of varying thickness. Assessment of count rate performance and count rate accuracy was based on measurements of an F line source inside a 20-cm-diameter polyethylene cylinder. PET image quality was assessed using a NEMA IQ phantom. All measurements were performed according to the predefined and implemented NEMA NU2-2012 acquisition protocols at a clinical installation of a Vereos PET/CT system. Evaluation was performed using the software provided by the vendor. The average (radial and tangential) transverse spatial resolution was 4.2, 4.5, and 5.5 mm in full width at half maximum for a 1-, 10-, and 20-cm radial offset, respectively, from the center of the field of view. Axial spatial resolution varied between 4.2 and 4.6 mm in full width at half maximum, depending on the radial source position. The average sensitivity was 5.2 cps/kBq. A peak noise-equivalent count (NEC) rate of 153.4 kcps was measured at an activity concentration of 54.9 kBq/mL. The scatter fraction at peak NEC rate was 33.9%, and the maximum count rate error at and below peak NEC rate was 6.8%. Contrast recovery coefficients varied from 54.3% (10-mm sphere) to 83.9% (22-mm sphere) for the hot spheres, and between 81.4% (28-mm sphere) and 87% (37-mm sphere) for the cold spheres for a given sphere-to-background ratio of 4:1. The overall performance characteristics of the Vereos PET/CT system are comparable to state-of-the-art whole-body PET/CT systems with the exception that the peak NEC rate occurs at a higher activity concentration, thus indicating the ability of the Vereos PET/CT system to cover a wider range of activities.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to validate simplified methods for quantifying [Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 uptake against full pharmacokinetic modeling.

Methods: Ten patients with pancreatobiliary cancer underwent a 90-min dynamic PET/CT scan using a long axial field of view system. Arterial blood samples were used to establish calibrated plasma-input function from both continuous arterial sampling and image-derived input function (IDIF).

Department of Nuclear Medicine, State Key Laboratory of Complex Severe and Rare Diseases, Center for Rare Diseases Research, Beijing Key Laboratory of Molecular Targeted Diagnosis and Therapy in Nuclear Medicine, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Science and Peking Union Medical College, 1# Shuaifuyuan, Dongcheng District, Beijing, 100730, China.

Background: There is a need for faster amyloid PET scans to reduce patients' discomfort, minimize movement artifacts, and increase throughput. The recently introduced uMI Panorama PET/CT system featuring enhanced spatial resolution and sub-200ps TOF offers the potential for shorter scan duration without sacrificing image quality or efficacy to detect Aβ deposition. The study aims to establish a faster acquisition protocol for [F]florbetapir PET imaging using digital PET/CT scanner uMI Panorama, while ensuring adequate image quality and amyloid-β (Aβ) detectability comparable to the standard 10-minute scan.

Erdheim-Chester Disease: A Case Report Exploring Multisystemic Involvement.

Cureus

November 2024

Neuroradiology, Unidade Local de Saúde Vila Nova de Gaia | Espinho, Vila Nova de Gaia, PRT.

Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare, multisystemic, non-Langerhans cell histiocytic neoplasm predominantly affecting middle-aged males in their fifth to seventh decades of life. It often presents with nonspecific symptoms, leading to a delay in its diagnosis. We report a case of an 85-year-old male with multisystemic manifestations, including retroperitoneal, skeletal, vascular, cardiac, orbital, and central nervous system (CNS) involvement.

Introduction Tumor staging is essential for determining treatment strategies and predicting prognosis in cancer patients. Accurate imaging techniques are critical for staging, metastasis screening, treatment response assessment, and recurrence detection. Objective In this prospective study, we aimed to compare the sensitivity of whole-body diffusion-weighted imaging (WB-DWI) with positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in detecting metastases.

Introduction: Optimizing the image quality of Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) systems is crucial for effective monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment planning in oncology. This study evaluates the impact of time-of-flight (TOF) on PET/CT performance, focusing on varying penalty β values within Q. Clear reconstruction algorithm.
