In this work, we report a novel application of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) in which the calcination and reduction of Cu(thd) deposited onto 4.9 wt % Cu/SiO induces significant decomposition of 28 nm crystalline Cu into ultrasmall ∼2 nm particles (5.1 wt % Cu/SiO). The Cu loading slightly increased, but the particle size dramatically decreased. The deposition of Cu(thd) onto the Cu surface can initially affect the size reduction of the metallic Cu particles due to charge transfer between Cu(thd) and the Cu surface. Thermal treatments, including calcination in air and reduction in H, can further influence the Cu particle decomposition. The mechanism of change in the Cu particle decomposition was investigated by a variety of experiments, such as X-ray diffraction and in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy. CVD treatment of Cu/SiO can create Cu-rich sites, which effectively enhance the conversion and acrolein yield in selective propylene oxidation. The intermediate associated with propylene oxidation on the Cu catalysts was also examined by IR spectroscopy.

This study explores the use of propylene oxide-modified ethylenediamine (PPO-EDA) as a novel crosslinker and chain extender in polyurethane (PU) adhesives. PPO-EDA was synthesized and compared with ,-dimethylethylenediamine (DMEDA) to assess its impact on mechanical properties and adhesion performance. Key parameters such as NCO conversion, tensile strength, and lap shear strength were thoroughly evaluated.

Department of Equipment Maintenance and Remanufacturing Engineering, Academy of Army Armored Forces, Beijing 100072, China.

Tactile sensing is currently a research hotspot in the fields of intelligent perception and robotics. The method of converting external stimuli into electrical signals for sensing is a very effective strategy. Herein, we proposed a self-powered, flexible, transparent tactile sensor integrating sliding and proximity sensing (SFTTS).

Ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO) are widely used as sterilizing agents in the food industry. However, their residues in food packaging can migrate into food and react with it, affecting the accuracy of residue detection in food. This study aims to explore the reaction mechanisms between EO and PO and aqueous food simulants using both experimental and computational methods.

Hydrogen spillover, particularly when involving "interparticle" hydrogen spillover, offers a unique opportunity to enhance catalytic efficiency by remote activation of surface acidity. Building on this concept, this study aims to investigate physically mixed alumina-supported platinum nanoparticles (Pt/AlO) and zirconia-supported tungsten oxide (WO/ZrO) in promoting the direct synthesis of cumene from benzene and propane at 300 °C. The reaction with Pt/AlO alone afforded propylene as the only product, indicating the successive reaction route of Pt-catalyzed dehydrogenation of propane, followed by acid-catalyzed alkylation.

Polyoxometalates (POMs) are composed of nanometric metal-oxide anions and have rich solution chemistry. In this class, Keggin POMs have been identified as the most influential inorganic additives for aqueous nonionic soft matter systems. POMs being at the borderline of classical ions and charged colloids possess fascinating solution properties; the present work aims to delve deeper into the interactions between nanoions and nonionic soft matters from a spectroscopic point of view.
