New types of [2.2]paracyclophane derivatives, g-BNMe-Cp and m-BNMe-Cp, in which electron-donating NMe and the electron-accepting BMes are introduced at the pseudo -gem and pseudo -meta positions, were designed and synthesized. The efficient through-space charge transfer enables the intense fluorescence with thermally activated delayed fluorescence characteristics. The quantum yields are up to 0.72 and 0.39 in cyclohexane. In addition, no significant fluorescence quenching was observed in the solid state with fluorescence quantum yields of powder up to 0.53 and 0.33. Moreover, the enantiomerically pure forms of g-BNMe-Cp exhibit strong CPL signals with g up to 4.24 × 10.

Oxygen, light, and mechanical force mediated radical polymerization toward precision polymer synthesis.

Chem Commun (Camb)

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Molecular Engineering of Polymers, Department of Macromolecular Science, Fudan University, Shanghai 200438, China.

The synthesis of polymers with well-defined composition, architecture, and functionality has long been a focal area of research in the field of polymer chemistry. The advancement of controlled radical polymerization (CRP) has facilitated the synthesis of precise polymers, which are endowed with new properties and functionalities, thereby exhibiting a wide range of applications. However, radical polymerization faces several challenges, such as oxygen intolerance, and common thermal initiation methods may lead to side reactions and depolymerization.

Effect of roasting on the chemical and lipid composition of pine nuts in two regions in Russia.

Heliyon

July 2024

Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Faculty of Trade Economics and Commodity Science, Department of Commodity Science, Stremyanny lane 36, RU 115054, Moscow, Russia.

The impact of thermal treatment for roasting on pine nuts from two geographical regions in Russia (Vladivostok and Baikal) was studied. They were roasted at 180 °C for 20 min in an oven. The aim was to establish the changes that occurred in the chemical (proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, ash, fibers), lipid composition (fatty acids, tocopherols, sterols, phospholipids), and physicochemical characteristics (peroxide value, acid value, iodine value, conjugated dienes and trienes) after roasting of the pine nuts.

Intranasal Administration of the Combination of Dextro-Ketamine and Dexmedetomidine for Treatment of Diabetic Neuropathic Pain in Rats.

J Pain Res

January 2025

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Medicina (Cirurgia Geral), Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) has become a public health problem, which is associated with high morbidity and mortality, due to the chronic complications, such as diabetic neuropathy. Current recommendations for the treatment of neuropathic pain achieve a reduction of 30% in only 30% of cases. Therefore, it is necessary to identify new therapeutic approaches to improve the quality of life of diabetic patients.

Crafting highly dispersed active metal sites on catalysts is an optimal method for improving the catalytic reactivity and stability, as it would improve atomic utilization efficiency, enhance reactant adsorption and activation ability through unique geometric and electronic properties. In this study, two synthesis methods were employed (ammonia evaporation (AE) and the impregnation method (IM)) to load Rh species onto the ZSM-5 support in order to attain tunable dispersivity, during which a 1.25-fold increase in the total yield of liquid oxygenated products (32 433.

Photochromic Sodalites: From Natural Minerals to Advanced Applied Materials.

Acc Chem Res

January 2025

Mineralogical Society of Antwerp, Boterlaarbaan 225, 2100 Deurne, Belgium.

ConspectusWhile photochromic natural sodalites, an aluminosilicate mineral, were originally considered as curiosities, articles published in the past ten years have radically changed this perspective. It has been proven that their artificial synthesis was easy and allowed compositional tuning. Combined with simulations, it has been shown that a wide range of photochromic properties were achievable for synthetic sodalites (color, activation energy, reversibility, etc.
