A recent prospective epidemiological study suggested that an increase in the nutritional uptake of the natural polyamine spermidine is associated with reduced overall and cancer-specific mortality. Here, we speculate through which mechanisms spermidine might exert such oncopreventive effects. ACLY, ATP citrate lyase; ATG, autophagy-related gene; CoA, coenzyme A; NSCLC, non-small cell lung cancer.

Salt stress is one of the principal abiotic stresses limiting agricultural production and seriously inhibiting seed germination rates. This study selected the salt-tolerant rice variety HD961 and the salt-sensitive rice variety 9311 as experimental materials to investigate the physiological and metabolic effects of exogenous Spd seed priming on rice seeds and seedlings under NaCl stress. The experiment involved treating rice seeds with 0.

Background: Polyamines, including spermidine (SPD), spermine (SPM) and putrescine (PUT), are essential for cellular physiology and various cellular processes. This study aimed to examine the associations of dietary polyamines intake and all-cause mortality and incident cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Methods: This prospective cohort study included 184,732 participants without CVD at baseline from the UK Biobank who had completed at least one dietary questionnaire.

The anti-cancer potential of eugenol (EUG) is well recognized, whereas that of spermidine (SPD) is subject to dispute and requires further research. The anti-tumorigenic potential of wheat germ SPD (150 µM) and clove EUG (100 µM), alone, in combination as SPD+EUG (50 µM + 100 µM) and, as a supplement (SUPPL; 0.6 µM SPD + 50 µM EUG), was investigated on both metastatic SW620 and primary Caco-2 colorectal cancer (CRC) spheroids.

Food leftovers can be used as alternative feed ingredients for monogastric to replace human-competing feedstuffs, such as cereals, recycle a waste product, reduce the feed-food competition and keep nutrients and energy in the feed-food chain. Among food leftovers, former food products (FFPs) are no more intended for human but still suitable for animal consumption. However, the metabolic impact of FFP has never been investigated.

Introduction: Drought stress severely hampers seedling growth and root architecture, resulting in yield penalties. Seed priming is a promising approach to tolerate drought stress for stand establishment and root development.

Methods: Here, various seed priming treatments, .
