New Numerical Inversion Method to Improve the Spatial Accuracy of Elemental Imaging for LA-ICP-MS.

Anal Chem

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Geological Processes and Mineral Resources, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan 430074, PR China.

The elemental imaging of laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) provides spatial information on elements and therefore can further investigate the growth or evolution processes of an analyte. However, the accurate determination of spatial information is limited by the decoupling between the elemental distribution and mass spectrometry signals. This phenomenon, which is more distinct when high-diffusion ablation cells are used, arises from the overlap of ablation and the transport dispersion of aerosols.

Introduction: Anticoagulant therapy is critical for venous thromboembolism (VTE) management, though bleeding remains a major concern, ranging from mild to fatal events. This study aimed to assess the predictive value of cytokines for major bleeding in patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE).

Methods: In this prospective, observational study, patients aged ≥ 18 years with acute PE were enrolled from April 2021 to September 2022 and followed for 30 days.

Sotatercept in pulmonary hypertension and beyond.

Eur J Clin Invest

January 2025

Department of Surgical, Medical and Molecular Pathology and Critical Area, Laboratory of Biochemistry, University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy.

Sotatercept binds free activins by mimicking the extracellular domain of the activin receptor type IIA (ACTRIIA). Additional ligands are BMP/TGF-beta, GDF8, GDF11 and BMP10. The binding with activins leads to the inhibition of the signalling pathway and the deactivation of the bone morphogenic protein (BMP) receptor type 2.

Anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR) are a well-established treatment option for children and young adults suffering from relapsed/refractory B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Bridging therapy is used to control disease prior to start of lymphodepletion before CAR infusion and thereby improve efficacy of CAR therapy. However, the effect of different bridging strategies on outcome, side effects and response to CAR therapy is still poorly understood.

Phragmites australis is a globally distributed grass species (Poaceae) recognized for its vast biomass and exceptional environmental adaptability, making it an ideal model for studying wetland ecosystems and plant stress resilience. However, genomic resources for this species have been limited. In this study, we assembled a chromosome-level reference genome of P.
