Aim: To study the efficacy of replacement of the single daily dose of two-component levodopa by three-component levodopa in work capable patients with Parkinson's disease with motor fluctuations during the most active working hours.
Material And Methods: The study included 157 patients from 19 Russian centers specialized in extrapyramidal pathology. The period of highest working activity was analyzed in all patients. In these patients, the previous treatment with two-component levodopa was replaced by three-component levodopa in the equivalent dose. Other antiparkinsonian treatment remained unchanged during the study period. The duration of the study was 1 month.
Results And Conclusion: The single replacement of two-component levodopa by stalevo allows increasing the optimal working activity by 19% and improving patient's state.

This paper reports the use of a self-assembling hydrogel as a delivery vehicle for the Parkinson's disease drug l-DOPA. Based on a two-component combination of an l-glutamine amide derivative and benzaldehyde, this gel has very soft rheological properties and self-healing characteristics. It is demonstrated that the gel can be formulated to encapsulate l-DOPA.

The results of the large-scale study STRIDE-PD of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) are presented. The aim of the study was to verify whether a combination of levodopa with DOPA decarboxylase and catechol-O-methyltransferase inhibitors (stalevo) could delay the development of dyskinesia compared to the standard two-component drug due to the more stable concentration levodopa in the blood that provided the persistent stimulation of dopamine receptors in the striatum. The results of the study allowed to discuss the issues related to PD treatment, in particular, the dose of levodopa that should not be exceeded to reduce the low risk of fluctuations and dyskinesia, and the necessity of maintaining equivalent doses of levodopa in the combination of antiparkinsonian drugs.
