Objective: To determine the normal values of flow mediated dilatation (FMD) in Taiwanese women with normal singleton pregnancies for the early detection of preeclampsia.

Materials And Methods: Data of women with normal singleton pregnancies seen at the Tri-Service General Hospital and Taiji Clinic between January 2014 and December 2015 were collected and analyzed. FMD was measured using high-resolution ultrasonography of the brachial artery for the assessment of endothelial function at the first and second trimester. The relationship between the FMD values and maternal gestational age was analyzed.

Results: A total of 122 pregnant women were included in the study. Systole FMD values first and second trimester were 9.05 ± 3.72 and 10.93 ± 3.74, respectively; and the diastole were 9.24 ± 3.64 and 11.18 ± 3.93, respectively. FMD and gestational age were positively correlated (systole, p = 0.0175; diastole, p = 0.0149).

Conclusion: The normal values of FMD in Taiwanese women with normal singleton pregnancies were established, and data suggests that both systolic and diastolic FMD increase with gestational age. Because of the high failure rate, measurement of FMD may not be suitable as a routine clinical examination.

Rationale: Peritoneal mucinous cystadenoma is rare in the clinic, lacks specific clinical manifestations, tumor markers, and imaging features, and is easily misdiagnosed and missed. Clinical practitioners should maintain a high level of vigilance. Here, we report a case of laparoscopic peritoneal mucinous cystadenoma stripping to improve our understanding of the disease.

Tobramycin dosing in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) is challenged by its high pharmacokinetic (PK) variability and narrow therapeutic window. Doses are typically individualized using two-sample log-linear regression (LLR) to quantify the area under the concentration-time curve (AUC). Bayesian model-informed precision dosing (MIPD) may allow dose individualization with fewer samples; however, the relative performance of these methods is unknown.

International studies state that older adults are at an increased risk of mental health symptoms and disorders (depression, anxiety, and stress), especially elderly women aged >65 years. The literature on this topic is scarce, and there is a need for studies that investigate the associations between mental health issues and overall health in elderly women. This study aimed to investigate depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms in elderly women in association with health status.

Managing acute venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients with thrombocytopenia is challenging. We used data from the RIETE registry to investigate the impact of baseline thrombocytopenia on early VTE-related outcomes, depending on the initial presentation as pulmonary embolism (PE) or isolated lower-limb deep vein thrombosis (DVT). From March 2003 to November 2022, 90 418 patients with VTE were included.
