Purpose: Vertebral body tethering (VBT) is a non-fusion surgical option for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) that requires a postoperative (PO) chest tube. This study evaluates whether 48 h of PO TXA reduces chest tube (CT) drainage and retention compared to 24 h of TXA following VBT for AIS.
Methods: Consecutively treated patients with a diagnosis of AIS who underwent VBT were assessed.

: Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) are the most effective agents for treating acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. The prescription of an intravenous (IV) formulation of PPIs has increased dramatically. The aims of this study were to assess the appropriateness of IV PPI use and to define the risk factors and outcomes associated with its inappropriate use.

Introduction And Aim: Assessing decongestion in patients with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) is challenging, requiring multiple parameters and often remaining imprecise. The study aimed to investigate the utility of indirectly estimating plasma variation (∆ePVS) for evaluating decongestion in ADHF patients in relation to natriuretic peptides.
Materials And Methods: This prospective, observational, single-center study included 111 patients (mean age 74 years, 40% female) hospitalized with ADHF and treated with intravenous diuretics along with optimized medical therapy.

Background: Based on a chart review of 164 patients admitted to our medical-surgical unit over 2 months and who underwent peripheral intravenous (PIV) cannula insertion, difficult intravenous access (DIVA) was found in 35% (57) of patients. Similarly, the first-attempt PIV cannula insertion failure rate was 43% (70 of 164 patients) when nurses used the traditional landmark method of visual inspection and palpation in patients with DIVA.
Purpose: The purpose of this evidence-based quality improvement (QI) project was to determine if the use of ultrasound-guided peripheral intravenous (USGPIV) cannulation would impact the rate of first-attempt PIV access among acute care adult patients with DIVA in the medical-surgical unit of an urban level 1 trauma center.

Introduction: Hemorrhagic transformation (HT) is a severe complication in patients with acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion (AIS-LVO) after endovascular treatment (EVT). We hypothesize that asymmetry of the internal cerebral veins (ICVs) on baseline CT angiogram (CTA) may serve as an adjunctive predictor of HT.
Methods: We conducted a study on consecutive AIS-LVO patients from November 2020 to April 2022.
