In this study, the activities of hydrogen sulphide (HS) oxidation and nitrate (N-NO) reduction by three pure and mixed strains of nitrate-reducing, sulphide oxidizing bacteria (NR-SOB) were determined. Batch experiments were performed at 35 °C and pH 7.0-8.0 with initial HS concentrations of 650-900 ppm and N-NO concentrations of ∼120 mg/L. The strains MAL 1HM19, TPN 1HM1 and TPN 3HM1 were capable of removing 100% gas-phase HS. The co-cultures showed better performance for HS and N-NO removal. The mixed NR-SOB strains showed a higher HS oxidation rate (143 ± 18 ppm/h), while the highest N-NO removal rate (5.5 ± 0 and 5.1 ± 0.6 N-NO mg/L·h) was obtained by a mixture of two NR-SOB strains. The 16S rDNA sequence analysis revealed that all strains belonged to the sub-class Alphaproteobacteria and are closely related to Paracoccus sp. (>99%).

Hydroxyapatite/zirconia (HAP/ZrO) composites were fabricated via the low-temperature mineralization sintering process (LMSP) at an extremely low temperature of 130 °C to enhance the mechanical properties of HAP and broaden its practical applications. For this purpose, 5-20 vol% calcia-stabilized ZrO were introduced into HAP, and HAP/ZrO nanoparticles, mixed with simulated body fluid, were densified under a uniaxial pressure of 800 MPa at 130 °C. At 10 vol% ZrO, the relative density of the HAP/ZrO composite was determined to be 88.

Bismuth ferrites, specifically perovskite-type BiFeO and mullite-type BiFeO, hold significant technological promise as catalysts, photovoltaics, and room-temperature multiferroics. However, challenges arise due to their frequent cocrystallization, particularly in the nanoregime, hindering the production of phase-pure materials. This study unveils a controlled sol-gel crystallization approach, elucidating the phase formation complexities in the bismuth ferrite oxide system by coupling thermochemical analysis and total scattering with pair distribution function analysis.

In this study, a thorough examination of the chemical, thermal, and mechanical characteristics, as well as shape memory behavior at low temperatures, of blends consisting of polylactic acid (PLA) and polyurethane (TPU) is conducted. The research involves the preparation of PLA/TPU mixtures with varying concentrations of TPU using a high-speed thermo-kinetic mixing approach. Chemical, morphological, and thermal analyses were conducted on pure PLA, TPU, and PLA/TPU mixtures by using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction pattern spectroscopy (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA).

The Keggin clusters are one kind of the most representative molecular structures in the field of metal-oxo clusters. Although the different types of Keggin clusters with various components were reported, the research about γ-Keggin isomer remains less developed. This is ascribed to the difficulty in obtaining the stable pure γ-Keggin cluster for the structural isomerization.
