Oxidative dehydrogenative aromatization and selective sulfonylation reactions of N-heterocycles under visible-light photoredox catalysis were established. The mild reaction conditions make this approach an appealing and versatile strategy to functionalize/oxidize pyrrolidines whereby arylsulfonyl chlorides were identified to be both catalyst regeneration and sulfonylation reagents.

The advancement of an effective hydrogen liberation technology from liquid organic hydrogen carriers, particularly cycloalkanes such as cyclohexane and methylcyclohexane, holds significance in realizing a hydrogen-centric society. However, the attainment of homogeneous catalytic acceptorless dehydrogenation characterized by elevated selectivity for thorough aromatization under mild conditions remains unrealized. In this study, a catalyst system, facilitated by a double hydrogen atom transfer processes, has been devised for the catalytic acceptorless dehydrogenation of inert cycloalkanes at ambient temperature under visible light irradiation.

The distribution of isomeric species in the interstellar medium cannot be directly related to their relative energetic stabilities but more to their mechanisms of formation and evolution. The abundances of the three isomers of CHO, cyclopropenone, propynal and propadienone, are an example among many other interstellar species wherein kinetic effects control their presence in astrophysical regions. To date, only propynal and cyclopropenone, the two less stable isomers of propadienone, have been detected in the interstellar medium.

The synergetic effect of different zinc active sites with a Brønsted acid site (BAS) in Zn-MCM-22 for -octane dehydrogenation cracking and ethane dehydroaromatization was investigated. Zn-MCM-22 catalysts containing ZnO were prepared via incipient wetness impregnation (IM) using liquid ion grafting, whereas those containing [ZnO] were prepared via atom-planting (AP) using the gas dechlorination reaction. The synergetic effects of BAS with micropore incorporated [ZnO] and external surface ZnO species on the dehydrogenation of different molecule size reactants -octane and ethane were compared.

In this study, we systematically explored the stability and isomerism of neutral and dehydrogenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in various charge states, focusing on anthracene, acridine, and phenazine. Our findings highlight key aspects that deepen the understanding of these molecules' reactivity and stability, relevant in both laboratory and astrophysical contexts. Structural symmetry and the presence of nitrogen atoms significantly impact PAH stability and reactivity.
