Non-symmorphic crystals are generating great interest as they are commonly found in quantum materials, like iron-based superconductors, heavy-fermion compounds, and topological semimetals. A new type of surface state, a floating band, was recently discovered in the nodal-line semimetal ZrSiSe, but also exists in many non-symmorphic crystals. Little is known about its physical properties. Here, we employ scanning tunneling microscopy to measure the quasiparticle interference of the floating band state on ZrSiSe (001) surface and discover rotational symmetry breaking interference, healing effect and half-missing-type anomalous Umklapp scattering. Using simulation and theoretical analysis we establish that the phenomena are characteristic properties of a floating band surface state. Moreover, we uncover that the half-missing Umklapp process is derived from the glide mirror symmetry, thus identify a non-symmorphic effect on quasiparticle interferences. Our results may pave a way towards potential new applications of nanoelectronics.

The discovery of high-temperature superconductivity in La_{3}Ni_{2}O_{7} at pressures above 14 GPa has spurred extensive research efforts. Yet, fundamental aspects of the superconducting phase, including the possibility of a filamentary character, are currently subjects of controversial debates. Conversely, a crystal structure with NiO_{6} octahedral bilayers stacked along the c-axis direction was consistently posited in initial studies on La_{3}Ni_{2}O_{7}.

CrI offers an intriguing platform for exploring fundamental physics and the innovative design of spintronics devices in two-dimensional (2D) magnets, and moreover has been instrumental in the study of topological physics. However, the 2D CrI monolayer and bilayers have long been thought to be topologically trivial. Here we uncover a hidden facet of the band topology of 2D CrI by showing that both the CrI monolayer and bilayers are second-order topological insulators (SOTIs) with a nonzero second Stiefel-Whitney number = 1.

Inspired by ecological floating beds to treat water pollution through photosynthesis, we employed a combination of calcination and hydrothermal methods to construct a photothermal-assisted photocatalysis system based on a floating monolithic porous mesh of g-CN (MPMCN) loaded with the excellent photothermal material BiMoO (BMO), forming a BMO/MPMCN S-scheme heterojunction. This approach improved the utilization efficiency of solar light by BMO/MPMCN, minimized heat loss, and enhanced the overall temperature of the material during the reaction process, thereby accelerating interfacial electron transfer. The unique floating structure confers a larger specific surface area to BMO/MPMCN, providing more reaction sites for TC pollutants and efficiently removing TC contamination from water.

The main pressing problems should be solved for heterogeneous catalysts in activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) are sluggish mass transfer kinetics and low intrinsic activity. Here, oxygen vacancies (Vo)-rich of CoO nanosheets were anchored on the superficies of spirulina-based reduced graphene oxide-konjac glucomannan (KGM) aerogel (R-CoO/SRGA). The porous structure and superhydrophilicity conferred by KGM maximized the diffusion and transport of reactant.
