Objectives: Mumps (infectious parotitis) is an acute respiratory illness caused by the mumps virus in humans. While numerous studies have explored the impact of climate variability on mumps incidence in specific cities or regions, few have analyzed nationwide associations across multiple locations. This study aims to systematically assess the short-term effects of meteorological factors on mumps incidence across Japan over a 15-year period.

The most severe form of muscular dystrophy (MD), known as Duchenne MD (DMD), remains an incurable disease, hence the ongoing efforts to develop supportive therapies. The dysregulation of autophagy, a degradative yet protective mechanism activated when tissues are under severe and prolonged stress, is critically involved in DMD. Treatments that harness autophagic capacities therefore represent a promising therapeutic approach.

While estimating postmortem interval (PMI) ambient temperature plays a pivotal role, so its reconstruction is crucial for forensic scientists. The recommended procedure is to correct temperatures from the nearest meteorological station based on measurements from the death scene; typically applying linear regression. Recently, there have been attempts to use different algorithms, that can improve that correction, for example GAM algorithm.

In order to investigate the effect of conformational change in pea protein isolate (PPI) on its emulsification properties, soy hull polysaccharides (SHP) were added to modify the conformation following heat treatment at 70-100 °C to improve emulsification. The results of UV and fluorescence spectroscopy indicated that the heat treatment exposed the amino acid residues to a more hydrophobic environment. The mean volume diameter (d) of PPI was reduced from 67.

To enhance the drying quality of peony flowers, this study developed an integrated intelligent control and monitoring system. The system incorporates computer vision technology to enable real-time continuous monitoring and analysis of the total color change (ΔE) and shrinkage rate (SR) of the material. Additionally, by integrating drying time and temperature data, a hybrid neural network model combining convolutional neural networks, long short-term memory, and attention mechanisms (CNN-LSTM-Attention) was employed to accurately predict the moisture ratio (MR) of peony flowers.
