Published: November 2017

During the period from 1964 to 1999 Saudi Arabian species of were wrongly treated under the European species, L. Recent explorations proved that there are two separate allopatric species of in Saudi Arabia, one inhabiting the inland salt-marshes of the Najd (highlands) and the other inhabiting the Arabian Gulf Coast (lowlands). Morphological, ecological and exploratory studies confirm that they are two distinct species. The two species differ in features of bark, axillary spikes, basal vegetative segment(s) of spike, fertile segments, colour of senescent plants, and flowering, fruiting and germination phenology. As both the species have been described earlier from Iran, they are now new records for Saudi Arabia. The species are, ssp. (Akhani) Kadereit & Piirainen and Akhani. , of which the status was thought doubtful has been confirmed. Both the species have been described and illustrated. Each species comprises a number of polymorphs. As leaves and flowers are rudimentary, confusing species circumscriptions, a proliferation of binomials has resulted in the taxonomy of . To mitigate such confusion, the full range of variability of the Saudi Arabian species has been documented.

Aim: This study aimed to identify the most commonly used tools by recent pharmacy graduates who successfully passed the Saudi Pharmacists Licensure Examination (SPLE). It also sought to evaluate which tools were perceived as the most useful and representative of the exam content, while considering their monetary value and offering recommendations for future candidates.

Methods: A cross-sectional design was used, involving licensed pharmacists who graduated in 2019 or later and had successfully passed the SPLE.

Nephrotoxic effect of cypermethrin ameliorated by nanocurcumin through antioxidative mechanism.

Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, College of Pharmacy, Jazan University, 45142, Jazan, Saudi Arabia.

Cypermethrin is a pyrethroid showing nephrotoxicity by generating ROS-impaired oxidative stress and changes in inflammatory and apoptotic markers. The harmful consequences are intended to be mitigated by the imbalance between oxidants and antioxidants. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant possessions of nanocurcumin (NC) with improved bioavailability ameliorate Cyp toxicity in rat kidneys.

Exaggerated neuronal excitation by glutamate is a well-known cause of excitotoxicity, a key factor in numerous neurodegenerative disorders. This study examined the neurotoxic effect of monosodium glutamate (MSG) in the brain cortex of rats and focused on assessing the potential neuroprotective effects of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω-3 PUFAs). Four groups of adult male rats (n = 10) were assigned as follows; normal control, ω-3 PUFAs (400 mg/kg) alone, MSG (4 mg/g) alone, and MSG plus ω-3 PUFAs (4 mg/g MSG plus 400 mg/kg ω-3 PUFAs).

Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) and consensus-based recommendations (CBRs) require considerable effort, collaboration, and time-all within the constraints of finite resources. Professional societies, such as the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE), must prioritize what topics and questions to address. Implementing evidence-based care remains a crucial challenge in clinical practice.

Fine-Tuning NIR-Absorbing BODIPYs for Photoacoustic Detection of Hypochlorous Ion (OCl⁻).

Chem Asian J

Rheinisch-Westfalische Technische Hochschule Aachen, Organic Chemistry, Landoltw, 52074, Aachen, GERMANY.

Highly reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS) play crucial roles in various pathological conditions. Among them, hypochlorous ion (OCl⁻), a potent ROS, is associated in numerous oxidative stress-related disorders. Elevated levels of OCl⁻ are thus recognized as a biomarker for diagnosing inflammatory conditions.
