Mites (Acari, Acariformes, Parasitiformes) are one of the most diverse and abundant groups of arthropods associated with birds. Several families of mites have colonised the respiratory tract of birds, the Rhinonyssidae (Mesostigmata) being the most diverse. There are 66 species of rhinonyssids (59 named, seven undescribed species) reported from Canadian birds. Two new species of rhinonyssids were discovered while surveying nasal mites from birds in Manitoba, Canada, and are herein described as from the horned lark (), and from the common nighthawk ().

Allergy Center, Department of Otolaryngology, Affiliated Eye and ENT Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai, China.

Background: House dust mite (HDM) is the leading allergen for allergic rhinitis (AR). Although allergic sensitisation by inhaled allergens renders susceptible individuals prone to developing AR, the molecular mechanisms driving this process remain incompletely elucidated.

Objective: This study aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying HDM-induced AR.

Standardized quality (SQ) house-dust mite (HDM) sublingual immunotherapy tablets (10,000 Japanese allergy units [JAU], equivalent to 6 SQ-HDM in Europe and the United States) are licensed for the treatment of HDM-induced allergic rhinitis (AR) without age restriction, based on 52-week administration clinical trials. There are no large-scale data on the administration of 10,000 JAU for > 1 year in actual clinical practice. To examine the safety and effectiveness of 10,000 JAU during use for up to 3 years at real-world clinical sites in Japan.

Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Medicine, Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Medicine and Engineering, University of Yamanashi, 1110 Shimokato, Chuo, Yamanashi, 409-3898, Japan.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) sensitization and allergic rhinitis (AR) symptoms in school-aged children in Japan and to understand the current severity of AR symptoms and the quality of life (QOL) among children with AR. We analyzed data from 8-year-old children who participated in the Yamanashi Adjunct Study of the Japan Environment and Children's Study, focusing on those with complete information on specific IgE levels and AR (1229 for perennial AR [PAR] and 1196 for seasonal AR [SAR]). Sensitization was determined when allergen-specific IgE levels were class 2 (0.

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is characterized by prolonged inflammation of the nasal and paranasal sinus mucosa lasting over 12 weeks. CRS is divided into two main types based on the presence of nasal polyps: CRS without nasal polyps and CRS with nasal polyps. The condition is further classified into endotypes based on type 1, type 2, and type 3 inflammatory signatures, with differences in terms of disease severity, prognosis, and treatment response.
