Background: The Quick Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand questionnaire (QuickDASH) is one of the most widely used questionnaires for assessing functional ability of the patients with upper extremity diseases. Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common neuropathic disease in the upper extremities. The aim of this study was to verify the validity, reliability, and responsiveness of Korean version of QuickDASH questionnaire (K-QuickDASH) in the patients with CTS.

Methods: In total, 83 subjects who underwent open carpal tunnel release (CTR) operation were selected. They fulfilled Korean version of Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand questionnaire (K-DASH) and K-QuickDASH at two different time points: before and six months after the surgery. Both criterion-related and construct validities were evaluated using Pearson's correlation coefficient and factor analysis. Internal consistency was estimated using Cronbach's alpha, and test-retest reliability was assessed to verify the reliability of K-QuickDASH using intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The standardized response mean and the effect size were analyzed to confirm the responsiveness of the K-QuickDASH in CTS patients.

Results: Significant positive correlation was found between K-QuickDASH and K-DASH. All the questionnaire items were categorized into three factors. Acceptable internal consistency was confirmed in three categories of K-QuickDASH. A high test-retest reliability and responsiveness of K-QuickDASH were detected.

Conclusion: K-QuickDASH in Korean patients with CTS was confirmed to have high degree of validity and reliability, and responsiveness after CTR. Therefore, the K-QuickDASH would be a good evaluation tool for evaluating clinical symptoms and determination of treatment outcomes in the patients with CTS.

The Spatial-Numerical Association of Response Codes (SNARC) effect refers to the phenomenon of faster left-hand responses to smaller numbers and faster right-hand responses to larger ones. The current study examined the possible long-lasting effects of magnitude-relevant stimulus-response compatibility (SRC) practices on the SNARC effect in a transfer paradigm. Participants performed a magnitude classification task including either SNARC-compatible or SNARC-incompatible trials as practice.

Background: A recent prospective phase II study (ECOG-ACRIN E2211) demonstrated that MGMT deficiency was associated with a significant response to capecitabine and temozolomide (CAPTEM) in pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs); however, routine MGMT analysis in NENs was not recommended. Our study sought to demonstrate whether loss of MGMT protein expression is associated with improved overall survival (OS) in patients receiving CAPTEM for NENs from various tumor sites.

Materials And Methods: Paraffin-embedded tumor samples were evaluated by immunohistochemistry (IHC) using an MGMT monoclonal antibody.

Increasing evidence supports the presence of oxytocin deficiency (OXT-D) in patients with hypopituitarism and hypothalamic damage (HHD), that might be associated with neuropsychological deficits and sexual dysfunction, leading to worse quality of life (QoL). Therefore, identifying a provocative test to diagnose an OXT-D will be important. Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) is a candidate for such a test as it increases oxytocin secretion in animal models.

Accurately representing the relationships between nitrogen supply and photosynthesis is crucial for reliably predicting carbon-nitrogen cycle coupling in Earth System Models (ESMs). Most ESMs assume positive correlations amongst soil nitrogen supply, leaf nitrogen content, and photosynthetic capacity. However, leaf photosynthetic nitrogen demand may influence the leaf nitrogen response to soil nitrogen supply; thus, responses to nitrogen supply are expected to be the largest in environments where demand is the greatest.

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) ameliorate inflammation by inhibiting T cell responses. In pathological conditions, such as autoimmunity, chronic infections or cancer they accumulate in the periphery. In cancer, MDSCs can also be part of the tumor microenvironment and are associated with a worse prognosis and limited response to immunotherapy.
