This work presents a critical nomenclatural review of the species of the Western Indian Ocean Region (Madagascar, the Comoros Archipelago, the Mascarene Islands and the Seychelles Archipelago). This is the first treatment of of Madagascar since Leandri's monograph in 1942. A total of 151 scientific names related to from this region are treated. We recognise 35 species (28 native and seven introduced), treat 93 names as synonyms (28 of them for the first time) and identify three as doubtful or excluded names. We designate lectotypes for 41 names, make two new combinations and propose one new name.

Focal capillary ectasia in the macular region can manifest in distinct clinical scenarios, which can be categorized into two main entities: perifoveal vascular anomalous complex (PVAC) and telangiectatic capillaries (TelCaps). PVAC represents a primary, idiopathic condition, whereas TelCaps occur secondary to underlying vascular disorders, including diabetic macular edema and retinal vein occlusion. We provide a comprehensive analysis of these two entities, encompassing their clinical presentations, multimodal imaging findings, histological evidence, and differential diagnosis from other retinal microvascular abnormalities, such as Type 1 macular telangiectasia, adult-onset Coats disease, Type 3 macular neovascularization in age-related macular degeneration, and retinal arterial macroaneurysms.

While the role of cancer stem cells (CSCs) in tumorigenesis, chemoresistance, metastasis, and relapse has been extensively studied in solid tumors, such as adenocarcinomas or sarcomas, the same cannot be said for neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs). While lagging, CSCs have been described in numerous NENs, including gastrointestinal and pancreatic NENs (PanNENs), and they have been found to play critical roles in tumor initiation, progression, and treatment resistance. However, it seems that there is still skepticism regarding the role of CSCs in NENs, even in light of studies that support the CSC model in these tumors and the therapeutic benefits of targeting them.

Estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) and estrogen receptor-negative (ER-) breast cancers have different genomic architecture and show large-scale gene expression differences consistent with different cellular origins, which is reflected in the luminal (i.e., ER+) versus basal-like (i.

Intercellular mitochondria transfer is an evolutionarily conserved process in which one cell delivers some of their mitochondria to another cell in the absence of cell division. This process has diverse functions depending on the cell types involved and physiological or disease context. Although mitochondria transfer was first shown to provide metabolic support to acceptor cells, recent studies have revealed diverse functions of mitochondria transfer, including, but not limited to, the maintenance of mitochondria quality of the donor cell and the regulation of tissue homeostasis and remodelling.

Objectives: Research supports cognitive behavioral therapies for nightmares (CBT-N) in adults. However, the nuances of implementation and unstandardized nomenclature for treatment components has created confusion in the field. To provide clarification, an expert consensus panel convened to review treatment manual components and to develop guidelines for the standardized implementation and terminology of CBT-N.
