We assessed tenofovir exposure during pregnancy and postpartum in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-infected HIV-uninfected women receiving tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HBV. Data from 154 women who received TDF within a randomized controlled trial were included. Individual plasma tenofovir exposures (area under the concentration-time curve from 0 to 24 h [AUC]) were estimated using a population pharmacokinetic approach. The estimated geometric mean tenofovir AUC was 20% (95% confidence interval [95% CI], 19 to 21%) lower during pregnancy than during postpartum; this modest reduction in the absence of HBV transmission suggests that no dose adjustment is needed.

Intimate partner violence (IPV) persists as a cause of short-term, long-term, and chronic health consequences. The elevated risk of IPV during pregnancy and the postpartum period (P-IPV) is commonly attributed to increased demands for child bearers and intimate partners. P-IPV may impact the health of the child bearer, developing fetus, and post-birth child.

Background: The increasing rate of cesarean delivery (CD) is a significant concern in many societies worldwide. Vaginal delivery (VD) is preferred over CD for subsequent pregnancies after successful VD, for women with no specific obstetrical indications, primarily because of concerns about potential complications arising from the surgical procedure. However, the factors that influence the decision of requesting a CD have not yet been thoroughly investigated.

Pregnancy is a unique phase in a woman's life marked by profound physical transformations, including changes in body shape and weight. The Body Understanding Measure for Pregnancy Scale (BUMPs) was designed to assess body image during pregnancy. Despite its increasing use, the scale has not yet been adapted into Italian, and evidence regarding its predictive validity with respect to anxiety, depression, and body appreciation is lacking.

Introduction: Women with HIV (WHIV) have higher risks of adverse pregnancy outcomes, particularly in the absence of antiretroviral treatment(ART), and timing of ART may impact risk.
Methods: In IMPAACT 2010 (VESTED), 643 pregnant WHIV in 9 countries were randomized 1:1:1 to initiate ART: dolutegravir (DTG)+emtricitabine(FTC)/tenofovir alafenamide(TAF); DTG+FTC/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) or efavirenz (EFV)/FTC/TDF. We describe adverse pregnancy outcomes in women with a subsequent pregnancy during 50 weeks of postpartum follow-up: spontaneous abortion (<20 weeks), stillbirth (≥20 weeks), preterm delivery (<37 weeks) and small-for-gestational-age (SGA).

Background: Anxiety during pregnancy is linked to adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes, as well as dissatisfaction with childbirth, and may contribute to the development of postpartum depression. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of mindfulness-based counselling on the anxiety levels and childbirth satisfaction among primiparous pregnant women.
Methods: This two-group, parallel, randomized controlled trial involved 60 eligible primiparous pregnant women who were referred to health centers in Kermanshah province (western Iran).
