Objectives: Despite great efforts to improve paediatric dental care access in the last two decades, the use of emergency departments (ED) for dental conditions among children that are more appropriately addressed in dental offices remains a public health concern in the United States. We examined factors associated with ED visits for nontraumatic dental conditions or NTDCs and ED visits for any other reason among children and adolescents.

Methods: A retrospective secondary data analysis of ED visits was conducted using the 2014-2015 Nationwide Emergency Department Sample (NEDS) data.

Goal: To assess whether patterns in individual-market participation changed following ACA implementation.

Extensive undertreatment of substance use disorders has focused attention on whether the expansion of eligibility for Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has promoted increased coverage and treatment of these disorders. We assessed changes in coverage and substance use disorder treatment among low-income adults with the disorders following the 2014 ACA Medicaid expansion, using data for 2008-15 from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. The percentage of low-income expansion state residents with substance use disorders who were uninsured decreased from 34.
