This study investigated, for the first time, the alterations in the uterine echotexture and blood flow in cyclic and acyclic (inactive ovary) goats using ultrasonography. The study aimed also to evaluate the metabolomic changes in the plasma of cyclic and acyclic goats. Furthermore, the histopathological approach was applied to the specimens of the uterus to validate the findings of this study.

Epidemiologic studies have shown a continuous increase in mortality risk associated with overweight, thus highlighting the health risks beginning before the onset of obesity. However, early changes in inflammatory signaling induced by an obesogenic diet remain largely unknown since studies of obesity typically utilize models induced by months of continuous exposure to a high-fat diet. Background: Surveys based on capillary blood show that anaemia is rampant in India, but capillary blood haemoglobin (Hb) may not accurately reflect venous blood Hb concentrations. Further, iron deficiency (ID) is thought to be the main cause of anaemia, there are no venous blood-based surveys to confirm this.
Methods: A community-based (urban, slum and rural) cross-sectional, venous blood survey was conducted in eight Indian states to estimate anaemia and ID prevalences from Hb and inflammation-corrected plasma ferritin concentrations in adolescents, adults, and elderly.
Cathelicidin, but not vitamin D, is associated independently with sepsis in pediatric patients with cancer and febrile neutropenia.

Sepsis and septic shock are major complications of febrile neutropenia (FN) in pediatric patients with cancer (PPCs). The aim of the present study was to determine the association of vitamin D (VD) and cathelicidin levels with sepsis and septic shock in PPCs with FN. A prospective cohort of PPCs with FN who had previously received cytotoxic chemotherapy was analyzed.
