Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common and complex medical sleep condition in adults that is associated with chronic medical and mental health conditions.  Supracricoid partial laryngectomy is a surgical treatment for advanced laryngeal cancer which is implemented to preserve organ function, but it may cause obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) due to anatomical changes after surgery that may be neglected by clinicians. Although the gold standard for the diagnosis of OSAS is polysomnography, respiratory polygraphy is an alternative valid method with a high level of diagnostic sensitivity and specificity; since the equipment is portable, it can be used at home, with no need for hospitalization.  To describe the polygraphy result of patients submitted to supracricoid partial laryngectomy.

Pulmonary embolism (PE) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) remain a major health issue worldwide with potential overlapping pathophysiological mechanisms. PE, the most severe form of venous thromboembolism, is associated with high morbidity and mortality, presenting challenges in management and prevention, especially in high-risk populations. OSA is a prevalent condition characterized by repeated episodes of upper airway closure resulting in intermittent hypoxia and sleep fragmentation.

Importance: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is often undiagnosed. Although genetic risk plays a significant role in COPD susceptibility, its utility in guiding spirometry testing and identifying undiagnosed cases is unclear.

Objective: To determine whether a COPD polygenic risk score (PRS) enhances the identification of undiagnosed COPD beyond a case-finding questionnaire (eg, the Lung Function Questionnaire) using conventional risk factors and respiratory symptoms.

Internal hernias are characterized by the protrusion of abdominal viscera through congenital or acquired apertures within the abdominal cavity and are a recognized etiology of intestinal obstruction. Internal hernias can cause symptoms ranging from mild abdominal discomfort to complete intestinal obstruction. Transomental hernias are often associated with postoperative anatomical changes and are rare in patients without prior abdominal surgeries.
