Acute massive gastric dilatation (AMGD) is a recognised complication after Nissen fundoplication. A 63-year-old man recently presented to our emergency department in acute respiratory distress, acute abdominal pain and distension, having had an elective umbilical port incisional hernia repair a day prior. In the year preceding his presentation, the patient had undergone a laparoscopic paraoesophageal hiatus hernia repair and excision of sac, posterior cruropexy, dual mesh reinforcement of repair and 360° fundoplication, as a day case. In between these two events, the patient was asymptomatic, and had a free diet with no further medical or surgical intervention. We hereby present successful management and discuss implications of this exceptional yet potentially life-threatening complication.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of pedicled supraclavicular flaps in hypopharyngectomy reconstruction, with a focus on preserving laryngeal function.
Methods: From August 2019 to June 2022, 14 patients with primary hypopharyngeal carcinoma who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and underwent the repair of hypopharyngeal defects using pedicled supraclavicular flaps were included retrospectively. Relevant clinical evaluation indicators include patient characteristics, defect sizes, flap sizes, flap harvesting time, postoperative hospital stay, postoperative complications, recurrence, and survival outcomes.

Background: Hepatogastric fistula (HGF) is an uncommon occurrence that can be associated with various medical conditions. The primary causes typically involve peptic ulcer disease, infections (such as pyogenic, amoebic or tuberculosis), or iatrogenic factors (like post transarterial chemoembolization or radiotherapy). Massive gastrointestinal hemorrhage following HGF is extremely rare, with iodine-125 (I) seed migration to the stomach through HGF not previously documented.
