Published: September 2018

Eight azukisapogenol triterpene glycosides, including five new compounds, oxychiliotriterpenosides A⁻E (⁻), two new methyl glucuronide derivatives that proved to be artifacts, oxychiliotriterpenoside E-glucuronic acid methyl ester () and myrioside B-glucuronic acid methyl ester (), and a known one, myrioside B (), was isolated from the aerial part of Royle. Their structures were elucidated based on extensive spectroscopic analyses and chemical methods. Triterpene glycosides were first obtained from , and those containing a galactose unit (, , and ) and diglucosidic or triglucosidic linkage at C-29 (⁻), were reported from species for the first time, which might be recognized as a chemotaxonomic feature of . All isolated compounds were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activities against NO production using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 cells, but no compounds showed potent inhibition on NO production.

Five new non-holostane di- and trisulfated triterpene pentaosides, conicospermiumosides A-1 (), A-2 (), A-3 (), A-1 (), and A-2 () were isolated from the Far Eastern sea cucumber Levin et Stepanov (Cucumariidae, Dendrochirotida). Twelve known glycosides found earlier in other species were also obtained and identified. The structures of new compounds were established on the basis of extensive analysis of the 1D and 2D NMR spectra, as well as by the HR-ESI-MS data.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a prevalent yet manageable respiratory condition. However, treatments presently used normally have side effects and cannot cure COPD, making it urgent to explore effective medications. The ginsenoside Rg3 (Rg3) has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor properties and can improve COPD.

Background: Diabetes often causes diabetic nephropathy (DN), a serious long-term complication. It is characterized by chronic proteinuria, hypertension, and kidney function decline, can progress to end-stage renal disease, lowering patients' quality of life and lifespan. Inflammation and apoptosis are key to DN development.

β-Glucosidase plays a pivotal role in transforming ginsenosides into specific minor ginsenosides. In this study, total ginsenosides from Panax notoginseng leaves were used as substrates to stimulate the growth of Aspergillus niger NG1306. Transcriptome analysis identified a β-glucosidase gene, Anglu04478 (1455 bp, 484 amino acids, 54.
