The fine structural characteristics of epithelial cells of the anal vesicle in the hymenopteran parasitoid, Microplitis croceipes (Cresson), are similar to those of transport cells. Apical and basal infoldings, an abundance of mitochondria, ribosomes, rough endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complexes and pinocytotic vesicles all indicate a transport function for these epithelial cells. The medial portions of both Malpighian tubules located within the anal vesicle also were examined and on the basis of morphology appear to be active. These observations support earlier physiological data which indicate that the anal vesicle functions in absorption of nutrients and excretion.

Tumor treatment remains a significant medical challenge, with many traditional therapies causing notable side effects. Recent research has led to the development of immunotherapy, which offers numerous advantages. Bacteria inherently possess motility, allowing them to preferentially colonize tumors and modulate the tumor immune microenvironment, thus influencing the efficacy of immunotherapy.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have been demonstrated to own the advantages in evading phagocytosis, crossing biological barriers, and possessing excellent biocompatibility and intrinsic stability. Based on these characteristics, EVs have been used as effective therapeutic carriers for drug delivery, but the low drug loading capacity greatly limits further applications. Herein, we developed a drug loading method based on cell-penetrating peptide (CPP) to enhance the encapsulation of therapeutic reagents in EVs, and EVs-based drug delivery system achieved higher killing efficacy to tumor cells.

The study aims to evaluate and compare two advanced proteomic techniques, nanoLC-MALDI-MS/MS and nanoLC-TIMS-MS/MS, in characterizing extracellular vesicles (EVs) from the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) of patients with asthma and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Pulmonary diseases, driven by pollutants and infections, often necessitate detailed analysis of BALF to identify diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets. EVs, which include exosomes, microvesicles, and apoptotic bodies, are isolated using filtration and ultracentrifugation, and their morphology, concentration, and size distribution are assessed through transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA).

Precise identification and analysis of multiple protein biomarkers on the surface of breast cancer cell-derived extracellular vesicles (BC-EVs) are of great significance for noninvasive diagnosis of the breast cancer subtypes, but it remains a major challenge owing to their high heterogeneity and low abundance. Herein, we established a CRISPR-based homogeneous electrochemical strategy for near-zero background and ultrasensitive detection of BC-EVs. To realize the high-performance capture and isolation of BC-EVs, fluidity-enhanced magnetic nanoprobes were facilely prepared.

Tumor-derived extracellular vesicles (T-EVs) PD-L1 are an important biomarker for predicting immunotherapy response and can help us understand the mechanism of resistance to immunotherapy. However, this is due to the interference from a large proportion of nontumor-derived EVs. It is still challenging to accurately analyze T-EVs PD-L1 in complex human fluids.
