A one-pot, acid-, base-, and metal-free, multicomponent strategy has been developed to synthesize spiro thiochromene-oxindole derivatives as potential anti-inflammatory agents. The synthesized compounds were screened for their anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting heat-induced Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) denaturation assay, revealing moderate to good efficacy. Compounds 4e, 4k, and 4h exhibited the highest activity, inhibiting BSA denaturation by 90.

This study focuses on the fabrication and characterisation of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) buckypapers and polyethersulfone (PES) flat-sheet membranes using Cyrene, aiming toevaluate its efficacy as a green solvent for these applications. Pristine SWCNTs were dispersed inCyrene without surfactants and compared to N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) dispersions. Buckypapers were fabricated from these dispersions and characterised using Scanning ElectronMicroscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and infrared spectroscopy.

Background: Citizen Science (CS) offers a promising approach to enhance data collection and engage communities in conservation efforts. This study evaluates the use of CS in environmental DNA (eDNA) monitoring for Mediterranean monk seal conservation. We validated CS by assessing the effectiveness of a newly developed CS-friendly filtration system called "WET" (Water eDNA Trap) in eDNA detection, addressing technical challenges, and analysing volunteer faults.

Electronic address:

Leather alternatives (LAs) offer a promising solution to address the environmental and ethical concerns associated with traditional leather production relying animal hides and chemical tanning agents. However, synthetic polymer-based LAs, such as polyurethane and polyvinyl chloride, have limited broader applications due to their complex manufacture process, high emission of volatile organic compounds, and poor biodegradability. Herein, we present the development of biomass-based LAs fabricated by combining two low-cost natural components - fungal chitin and plant polyphenols (i.
