It is commonly recognized that aberrant expression of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) is an important cause of cancer progression. The oncogenic property of KCNQ1OT1 has been identified in several malignant tumors. Here, we decided to explore the biological function and molecular mechanism of KCNQ1OT1 in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). The expression conditions of KCNQ1OT1 in different tissues and cell lines were examined with qRT-PCR analysis. As expected, KCNQ1OT1 was highly expressed in CCA tissues and cell lines. Results of functional assays revealed the oncogenic function of KCNQ1OT in cholangiocarcinoma progression. The positive effect of KCNQ1OT1 on cell proliferation, invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition was identified by performing MTT assay, colony formation assay, transwell invasion assay and western blotting. Whereas, the negative effect of KCNQ1OT1 on the cell apoptosis was tested with flow cytometry analysis. Mechanism investigation revealed that KCNQ1OT1 can act as a ceRNA to improve CCA progression by regulating miR-140-5p/SOX4 axis. Recue assays were conducted to demonstrate the actual effects of KCNQ1OT1-miR-140-5p-SOX4 pathway on CCA progression.

Powdered germinated Thai rice () is widely utilised as a dietary supplement to support health and prevent diseases. This study investigated the bioactive compound profile of water extracts from beverage powder made from Thai germinated brown rice (GBRE) and assessed its anticancer effects on cholangiocarcinoma, lung cancer, and liver cancer cell lines. Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) revealed 23 metabolites, including amino acids, sugar, phenolic compounds and nitrogenous compounds.

The pancreas, previously considered a sterile organ, has recently been shown to harbor its own microbiota that may influence tumor biology and patient outcomes. Despite increasing interest in the impact of the microbiome on cancer, the relationship between pancreatic tissue and oral microbiomes in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains limited. In this study, the oral and pancreas tissue microbiomes of patients with PDAC were compared to patients with other periampullary cancers (DC/AC) and a healthy control group using 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis.

Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) represents approximately 3% of all gastrointestinal cancers and is a highly heterogeneous and aggressive malignancy originating from the epithelial cells of the biliary tree. CCA is classified by anatomical location into intrahepatic (iCCA), extrahepatic (eCCA), gallbladder cancer (GBC), and ampullary cancers. Although considered a rare tumor, CCA incidence has risen globally, particularly due to the increased diagnosis of iCCA.

Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a malignant biliary system tumor and the second most common primary hepatic neoplasm, following hepatocellular carcinoma. CCA still has an extremely high unfavorable prognosis, regardless of type and location, and complete surgical resection remains the only curative therapeutic option; however, due to the underhanded onset and rapid progression of CCA, most patients present with advanced stages at first diagnosis, with only 30 to 60% of CCA patients eligible for surgery. Recent innovations in medical imaging combined with the use of radiomics and artificial intelligence (AI) can lead to improvements in the early detection, characterization, and pre-treatment staging of these tumors, guiding clinicians to make personalized therapeutic strategies.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of drug-eluting beads transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(DEB-TACE) combined with systemic chemotherapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors in the treatment of unresectable intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.
Methods: This study used retrospective cohort analysis to collect the clinical data of 209 patients with unresectable intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma treated in Linyi Cancer Hospital, Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital of Dalian University, Affiliated Central Hospital of Dalian University of Technology from January 2020 to January 2024. The patients were divided into observation group and control group based on their treatment plans.
