Agarwood essential oil is prized for its elegant aroma and pharmacological properties; however, the traditional hydrodistillation method suffers from inefficiencies, constraining the industrial potential of agarwood. We proposed an ultrasonic-assisted laccase synergistic pretreatment technique that enhanced extraction throughput by 70.90 % compared to the traditional method by facilitating pore formation in agarwood and expediting the release of essential oil.

Our research presents selective direct selenylation at the C-4 pyrazole ring using KSO as an oxidant under simple and mild conditions. This elegant synthesis involves the one-pot method under acidic conditions, thus minimizing reaction steps and waste generation. This innovative method allowed us to create a library of 4-selanylpyrazoles in good to excellent yields.

Motivation: Permutation-based significance thresholds have been shown to be a robust alternative to classical Bonferroni significance thresholds in genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for skewed phenotype distributions. The recently published method permGWAS introduced a batch-wise approach to efficiently compute permutation-based GWAS. However, running multiple univariate tests in parallel leads to many repetitive computations and increased computational resources.

Background: Cardioneuroablation (CNA) treats reflex syncope by ablating ganglionated plexi (GPs) either confined to the right (RA) or left atrium (LA), or accessible from both. We assessed whether GP ablation in one atrium affects parasympathetic modulation in the other and how ablation sequence (RA then LA, or vice-versa) impacts efficacy.
Methods: Two propensity-matched groups of patients with reflex syncope or functional bradycardia were analyzed.

Bioresponsive polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) that are capable of delivering and releasing therapeutics and biotherapeutics to target sites have attracted vivid interest in cancer therapy and immunotherapy. In contrast to enthusiastic evolution in the academic world, the clinical translation of these smart systems is scarce, partly due to concerns about safety, stability, complexity, and scalability. The moderate targetability, responsivity, and benefits are other concerns.
