Dataset on mice body weights and food intake following treatment with PG545.

Data Brief

Lipid Research Laboratory, Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion, Haifa, Israel.

Published: October 2018

This data article contains analysis of data observed in E mice placed on high fat diet, and treated by intraperitoneal injections of either normal saline (control) or the heparanase inhibitor PG545, in two different doses. Mice body weights and food intake were measured weekly and analyzed data are presented in graphs. Data will be of value for further understanding the role of the enzyme heparanase in controlling food intake and body weight. For further interpretations, see please "Heparanase inhibition attenuates atherosclerosis progression and liver steatosis in E mice" (Muhammad et al. 2018).

Family child care (FCC) offers a promising setting for obesity prevention, yet interventions have had varied success, potentially due to insufficient stakeholder input. This study aimed to explore barriers, facilitators, and preferences for healthy eating and physical activity interventions among Australian FCC educators and organization staff. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 FCC educators and 6 staff members, using the framework method for data analysis.

Intravenous Pump Flow Accuracy: A Systematic Review.

Intravenous pumps (IVPs) deliver IV medications to millions of acute care patients each year and result in many adverse events reported to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Although the use of IVPs has improved overall safety, there are still high rates of error that risk the safety of all patients, especially those of advanced age and those suffering from critical illness. Most of the documented errors are based on clinician reports, although there is reason to believe that errors due to flow rate inaccuracy go undetected and unreported.

Unlabelled: The Ketogenic Diet (KD) is a non-pharmacological strategy for drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) and inborn errors of metabolism (Glut-1 deficiency) management. KD is characterized by being restrictive, affecting micronutrient intake. There are different modalities of KD in which food intake and nutritional deficiencies vary.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine-metabolic disorder in female adolescents, and it is associated with metabolic, cardiovascular, and reproductive complications. Recent findings also suggest an association with psychiatric pathology, both affected patients and their offspring. In this update, we synthesized the recent literature on mental health in women and adolescents with PCOS through a systematic search in PubMed, Epistemonikos, and Scielo for articles published in the last 5 years.
